"Hello there." Makima said, I turned to face her, freezing in my tracks as soon as our eyes met.

My fate had been set.

I paused, unsure of what was happening, unsure of what to do.. I felt my feet moving forward, charging towards the figures at great speed.

"Should we-"

"No, there's potential here." Makima said, eyeing her colleague.

"We must keep in mind what Hayakawa has told us, we saw that little girl with our own eyes didn't we?" Makima said, asking in a bit of a rhetorical manner, the men nodded, instantly falling to submission.

Makima's yellow eyes stared into mine, I found myself getting lost in the deep circles that ran through them, such unique eyes.

I returned to normal, my hands tattered with cuts. I couldn't move, I was fixed into this stance, forced to glare at the woman.

"I am Makima, I'm here to offer you food and shelter." The woman said.

"You're not running." I muttered to myself, they looked as if they were going to kill me, devil hunters..

"Devil hunters don't run, now will you take my offer?" Makima asked, this time around it sounded more like a demand.

Food and shelter sounded so pleasant, maybe I should take her up on this.

It was a luxury, but I wonder where I came in, what price did I have to pay for such simple necessities, most likely a hefty one.

"Yes." I said, watching the woman carefully.

Makima just smiled, slowly drawing nearer.

"There are some conditions that you will have to come to terms with." Makima said, the way she worded it made it sound like I was signing up for a cult.

"If you agree to join me, then you are entitled to doing everything that I say. Speak when spoken to, and kill when told to. You're like a dog of the Bureau now." Makima said, she was testing me.

I took a deep breath and looked Makima in the eyes, no matter how terrifying they were.

"I understand, just get me the hell outta here." I said, Makima nodded, escorting me to her vehicle.

It was a clean looking mercedes, the Bureau obviously had money. I thought that I would dirty the seat if I sat on it, that's how clean it was.

"What was your life like before becoming a devil man." Makima asked, she sat beside me, her hostile nature had been put to rest, for now at least.

She was so subtle, so strange, who the hell was this Makima.

I turned towards her, unsure of what to say. Do I say the truth? Or do I make up a lie, getting into character.

I couldn't lie to this woman, she'd smell it coming from a mile away. I could tell that her instincts were second to none.

"I don't remember my life as a human, my memory is gone." I said, feeling discouraged, I wished that I knew, maybe I had a normal life, or maybe a happy one.

A jealous boyfriend pushing me off the ledge, hoping to end me. Or maybe, I had grown tired of my life, and I jumped off the ledge, flying for the shortest of time.

"That's not uncommon, you certainly aren't a fiend." Makima said, I nodded.

"I was human once, but I think the way I died is why I can't remember anything." I said, Makima nodded, she reached out and examined my claws, though in this form they looked more like long nails, they were retractable.
