Part Four : Some Memories Should Be Forgotten

"We've been called in to deal with a devil." Aki muttered, I glanced at him, he had no sign of emotion at all..

"Already!" Power whined, she wailed, rolling back and forth along the floor.

"I'm still full from dinner." Denji said, he patted his stomach and looked to Aki.

Aki sighed, ignoring the complaints from the others.

This was all happening so fast.

...

"This way, (y/n) sit this one out. We don't know your abilities yet, and this could be more troubling than you think." Aki said, for a second there I thought he was worrying about me.

There was a harsh growling coming from an alleyway, the scene was almost too much like one from a manga.

Once again, I felt no fear, I believed that the feeling had been lost forever, it served as a reminder of the loss of my humanity.

Still, fear made you feel alive, it brought excitement at times. I never thought I'd miss it.

"I am the Crow Devil, Now Die Humans!" The devil shouted, he flapped his wings, preparing to attack, black feather dispersed through the air in the process.

Like the dumbasses that we were, the special division four marched into that darkened alleyway as if none of us had a care in the world.

Aki took the lead, Denji followed closely behind.

"You're still anemic, I can take him." Aki said, he placed his hands in a strange manner, focusing on the target ahead.

"Kon!" He shouted, the head of a great fox appeared, this must be the 'fox devil' that he warned me about earlier.

"Aki, t'would be wise if you didn't attack with Kon." Power said, her sudden politeness alarmed all of us. On rare occasion she often spoke in an old timey accent, using words that hadn't been uttered in at least a few generations.

"Shut up, you're both useless because of the amount of blood you've been losing recently, and (y/n)-" 

Aki was hit by the devil mid sentence, he was distracted by our antics.

"Damned devil caught me off guard." Aki muttered to himself.

He wiped his face and charged him again.

"I'm not dying by the hands of some fucking bird." Aki shouted, he was sadly knocked back, Denji was able to break his fall.

Aki shoved himself off of Denji, his face full of .. rage?

His human side was showing.

He was too full of pride right now, though that was a trait that both beings shared.

"Kon!"

I knew I had to do something, he seemed off his game.

Aki could end up hurt, dead even, if I didn't step in. I didn't want that, him getting hurt. For some reason I cared about his life, I felt as if he had some sort of purpose to strive for, it would be a shame for it to be ended prematurely, he deserved a chance to fight again.

"Aki! Outta the way!" I shouted, jumping into the air.

He was going to cut me off, but I was thankful that he backed away..

First, I started with the things wings, causing him to wince in pain, his screams ringing through all of our ears.

Any bystanders had managed to escape by now, I could go all out.
