Y/N took a few steps back from the creature Kourtney turned into. Her words were just a mess of low gurgling and growls as it got to its feet again. This situation was dangerous enough already, but Y/N had no path to just run. Instead, he had to face this thing and somehow kill it, knowing very well that Kourtney couldn't be brought back. His hand quickly grabbed the pistol and he aimed, shooting it in the chest three times.

Y/N:" I'm sorry, Kourtney! I really wish I didn't have to do this!"
There was no use in talking to this monster. Y/N tried to convince himself that this was just some kind of illusion, but the fact that a claw almost cut his shoulder was enough to make him see the reality of it.

Y/N:" Geez...okay, you're serious about this. Well, now you're just pissing me off!"
This caused Y/N to kick the creature off and get some distance in to keep himself safe. The confusing part of the whole thing wasn't how Kourtney got there, but what caused her to transform into a horrid beast like this. It clearly wasn't the same parasite that Y/N had inside his brain, so a lot of research had to be done in order to find the truth. He hoped to at least get some clues about his condition, but the way things were going made it look like he had a long way to go. Y/N quickly reloaded as he looked at his surroundings for the first time since getting to this area.

Y/N:" Some kind of ruins. This has to mean that something important was or still is here and this thing is trying to protect it."
Maybe Y/N was right or he lost his mind already. If these ruins were to protect something, nobody would have just a single enemy guarding the place. On the other hand, he didn't know what this thing had in store for him as he dodged another incoming strike.
