'03 - Good Morning'

"CARINA ELAYNE TOUSSAINT"
"This suuuucks!" I groaned, slamming my head down onto the table.
"It's really not that bad." Maria, who was sitting beside me, said.
Today was our first day of classes. We were seated in the great hall for breakfast and McGonagall had just handed us our schedules for the year.
"Not that bad? Here I thought we were given more free time because they were being generous! Come to find out, that that's just for us to have time to do the enormous workload we're going to get. IT'S A TRAVESTY!" I whined.
"If you want to be a Healer Mrs. Toussaint, you're going to have to work for it. We can't have any slackers healing our future generations, can we?" Professor McGonagall said, looking directly at James and Sirius for the latter part of her sentence.
"Oh, come now Minnie! Cut her some, slack, will you? I'm sure she'll become a great Healer!" Sirius attempted to defend me, utterly oblivious to the fact that it wasn't me who McGonagall was referring to.
I looked up at our favourite professor, who was now glancing between both James and Sirius with her hands on her hips.
"You boys will be the death of me." She muttered, shaking her head and sighing before turning to me, shooting a small smile and walking off further down the table towards some other Gryffindor students that had just come into the great hall.
It was still quite early in the morning, 7:15am to be precise. The boys, Maria and I are all sitting right beside one of the many fireplaces of the Great Hall, still wearing our pajamas under our robes.
Hogwarts has a fair few odd rules.
One of which, was that students had to wear their robes in the great hall at all times. Not uniforms, just robes. Which meant funky socks, slippers and patterned trousers peeking out from under someone's robes were often a regular sight to see in the mornings.
"Lily and me are planning on starting up our study group again, I assume you and Maria will join us as usual?" Remus, who was sitting on the other side of me, asked as he buttered up a piece of toast.
"Considering the insane amount of assignments we are presumed to be getting, we're definitely going to need it. When are you guys planning on starting?" I asked him.
"Starting what?" James interrupted, pouring some milk into his bowl of cereal.
"Nothing that you're interested in Rudolph." I replied, as Remus handed me the now buttered toast.
"Oi! Watch it!" James warned, pointing his spoon at me. He really hates that nickname.
I took a generous bite out of my buttered toast.
"Lily has some Head Girl duties to take care of after dinner so, I'd say sometime in the afternoon? I'll confirm with her between classes and let you know at lunch, alright?" Remus replied before picking up another piece of toast to butter for himself.
"Alright, we're free after lunch anyway." I agreed.
"Just wait until they start assigning homework. We won't be as free then." Maria sighed. "That's what Mary told me anyway." she added.
"Ughhhh! Why did we have to care about other people so much? Why couldn't we have been born heartless. Then we could've chosen to be something like a potioneer or an inventor. But nooooo, we just had to choose a profession that benefitted the greater good." I complained with a deep sigh.
