Carina often found herself eavesdropping on conversations which she knew was forbidden, but how could she not when all that there ever was to do was to sit around and do your lessons and act like a proper lady.
"Keep your thoughts to yourself, no one will marry you unless you obey and act like a proper lady." her father often reminded her.
But what else was a mere little girl of 5 meant to do when there was so much to explore? So much to discover? All she wanted to do was run through the gardens in her backyard and lay in the grass and run to the river and play with the other neighbourhood kids her age and,
She can't have been expected to act straight. Besides, her younger sister was already doing all of that for her. What's the need for 2 proper ladies in one household? One should surely be enough.
Thus was the reason little Carina found herself once more standing outside of her father's study, listening to the conversation through the tiny crack of the doors. Only a sliver of the door was left open and yet, it was just enough to satisfy Carina's curiosity.
She heard her father's voice roaring through the room. Not uncommon, considering he always wanted to be heard.
"I don't understand Estie! What is so unsatisfactory about the schools we have here?" her fathers voice boomed, his thick french accent showing through.
"It's not the same Andre. The education I had received in Hogwarts will be far superior to that of the Beauxbatons. You wouldn't understand since you were brought up in Durmstrang, the girls education will be much different than whatever you may have experienced!" Celeste's voice countered.
Carina held her breath, trying to be as quiet as possible. She often heard tales of her mother's education in Hogwarts and has dreamed of attending the school herself.
Andre sighed loudly, "Estie. I have spoken to the headmistress and asked for a list of subjects that they teach there. I'm sure the girls will love it just as much as you loved Hogwarts." he said, followed by the creaking of a chair.
"I do not agree. I do not think our girls will be happy there at all. I do not think them being brought up in France will do them any favors. I've seen what will happen to this country, you know I'm never wrong. It won't be safe for us here. I want security for them. For us." Celeste pleaded with her husband.
