Hazel's POV

I couldn't shake the feeling that my dream might be a sign. All I could do is hope for the best. I wasn't sure what to tell Reyna, after all the note said come alone.. I just really liked her company. But I had to say something. "Reyna.. The note said come-"

"I am not letting you do this alone. Besides, it will only be you and nobody." She held up a New York Yankees hat. "I had a little help from Annabeth."

"She gave it to you?"

"No, she let me borrow it."

"Oh." There was an awkward silence after that, which of course was soon broken by a firery shape coming towards us. "Did you invite Leo?" I asked, hopefully. "No, I suggest... RUN!" We turned and sprinted through the trees. I glanced back to see it right at our heels. It was not Leo, and it wasn't on fire. It was breathing it. Somehow it looked familiar.... Right! It was called a chimera. It had multiple different animal parts. Then I remembered what mom always used to say, 'Never take your eyes off the road ahead.' I turned my head just in time to see a tree. SMACK! I ran straight into it. "Ow!" I rubbed my aching nose. "Hazel keep running!" I heard Reyna shout from somewhere. My vision was slightly glazed, but I kept running. "Reyna its gaining on me!"

"Can you summon something to make it trip?"

"I'll try!" I raised my hands and concentrated. "I-I cant..."

"Keep trying!" I sigh and try again, absorbing all my strength. I hear a crash behind me and my knees buckle. "Hazel!" Reyna ran towards me. "He wont stay down for-gods." She helped me up. "Please tell me you can walk." I take a small step, then a few more. I nodded. "Good, now run!" We both bolted away. I realized it could catch up anytime he wanted. I had a feeling he was just waiting for something, or someone. Reyna must have thought this too because she stopped in her tracks. She turned towards me and said, "Hazel, meet me there!"

"What?"

"Just go I will distract this thing!"

"But- I can't just leave you!"

"Go save Frank!" I watched as she ran towards it, sword ready. She swung for the lion head. Suddenly the forest erupted in flames, I darted away just in time, but Reyna wasn't so lucky. My eyes stung, tears burned my cheeks. Praetor Reyna Ramirez-Arellano was.... dead.
