Chap five

In school whispers were swirling and turning .
About how Karma finally took it's toll on Rarba.
Though she went through the halls with her head held high.
She never had friends to begin with so everyone she didn't get back at took pity on her on one friday Rarba sat with her back against the same tree.
Though this time she was reading the book in her lap.
Turning the pages as if they'd crumble.
When a girl made her way towards Rarba.
" Hello ". The girl said snapping Rarba out of her reading.
" Hi ". Rarba replied smiling at her.
People whispered about how brave she was that she still smiled through all that was going through her life.
But Tom knew better he knew she missed not her parents.
" What are you doing ". The girl asked sitting next to Rarba.
" Reading ". Rarba replied.
The girl stayed for a bit then hurried away.

In the orphanage Rarba was in her room. The room she shared with the girls.
Tom had his room beside them . He lay on the creaky bed and stared at the gray fading ceiling.

" So what is she doing ".

He asked his pet snake.

" Looking through things , the girls things ". The snake said.

Tom nodded his head.

In the middle of the night he heard floor boards creaking and then a pause.
He woke and opened his door cautiously.
He saw Rarba making her way down the stairs.
He followed but he knew which floorboards creaked while she was new to them.
She jumped down the last steps.
Landing in a crouch she stood up . He saw that she was making her way to the caretakers office.
It's locked he wanted to tell her but didn't want to give his position away.
She tried the handle and found it locked.
She put her hand atop the door sill and trailed along untill she got a key.
He was shocked he could have snuck in the caretakers office so many tines .
Opening the door slowly Rarba stepped in the office.
Tom made his way down the stairs avoiding the creaking floor boards.
And stayed in the line of vision of the office.
Rarba looked around opening drawers and cupboards untill she found something and put it in her pocket . Looking through more things he saw that she got her hand around a gold ring. Rarba looked at it and grinned also putting it in her pocket.
Backing out the office she locked the office and put the key where she found it.
Tom stayed in the shadows.
Rarba made her way upstairs and shut her rooms door .
He stayed in the shadows thinking , thinking what she was up to.
Would she sell the ring ?

The next day he lay in bed he wanted to practice he's freaky powers but on who?
There was a sudden lock on his door.

" Come in ". He called.
The door opened and Rarba stood there .
He sat up.
" Rarba". He greeted her.
" Thomas ".
" Is there something you needed ". He asked her.

" Actually there is , can i close the door ". She asked.
He nodded.

" What is it ".

She was standing there looking at the snake coiled around the bed stand.
She kept her eye on it and in return the snake kept staring at her .

She gave him a key.
" Can i trust that you will keep this safe , it's just the girls in my room are nosy. Thee likes not nosy people". She said .
He nodded and put the key in his pocket.
She sat on his bed uninvited.
If this was anyone else he would have cut ofd their legs but it was Rarba.
She put a leg over the other.
" It is boring is it not ". She asked him .

" It is ". He agreed.

" Do you know Lena " she asked him.
