Chapter 28

(Virat's pov)

Everyone went forward and gave their blessings to pakhi and samrat.

Some even danced, the atmosphere was happy.

I was standing in a corner and just smiling looking at them, I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere.

Then samrat called me to bless their child.

I did have a gift for him/her but I was hesitant to go give that gift.

I knew people will make faces at me and even mock me.

After samrat called me again I came forward.

The moment I did so, some aunties started taunting and mocking me.

Their words were very harsh and I couldn't stop my tears from falling.

I decided to go inside again. I had ruined the atmosphere, the thing I exactly didn't want to.

I was going inside when samrat stopped me.

"Bas kariye aap sab. Aap logo ko kuch nhi pata hai" samrat said

I immediately turned around and said "nhi jeeva."
I knew what he had in his mind, to tell everyone about my mission.

"Shiva bas bohot ho gya, ye log tere baare mein bakwass kiye ja rhe hai, tu baata rhe hai ya mein batao"
Samrat said

"Jeeva nh.."

"Kuch hai nhi batane ko, sab ko pata hai isse ghar se nikal diya tha" one aunty said

"Aur nhi to" another one said

Another aunty opened her mouth to say something but samrat said before she could.

"Ghar se na hi isse nikala gya tha or nahi ye bhaga tha. Mission par gya tha ye, secret mission tha." Samrat shouted.

I closed my eyes. I wasnt ready for this.

"Aur aap logo ko isse pehle ye lage ki mein jhooth bol rha hoon ya phir baatein bana rha hoon, mere pass is baat ka proof bhi hai"

Which proof is he talking about?

I opened my eyes and looked at him confused.

He assured me and went inside.

I looked sai, she was shook and so was my family.

Samrat came outside, plugged his pendrive in tv and played some video.

It was the video of my award function which took place yesterday.
I had gotten a bravery awards for completing the mission.

I only had sent him this video. I didn't know he is going to use it like this.

The video had everything, dig sir briefing to other police men about the mission and how I completed it in these four months and then me getting awards.

The video ended.
Silence. Only silence was there.

My first instinct was to look at sai.
There she was bawling her eyes out.

She was going to fall, I took a step ahead to catch her before she falls but karishma held her hand.

She looked at me.

I just diverted my gaze from her to my family members.

Some were shocked, aai and baba were crying.

(Sai's pov)

I was damn confused by the conversation samrat dada and virat were having.

Kauna sach?
And why shouldn't we know about it?

Samrat dada shouted that virat was on a mission, a secret mission nothing else.

I was shocked. Samrat dada never lies.

Was it really the truth? Or he is just covering up for virat? Afterall bhai hai unka pyaar karte hai vo usse.

Samrat dada plugged in a pendrive in the tv and played a video.

Earth slipped beyond my feet.
He was on a secret mission.

Being a police officer's daughter I have seen the police world.

A lot of police officers are declared missing to their families if they go on secret missions, some lie and go.

None of the police officers reveal about their secret mission to anyone.

The starting date of his mission was just one day after his birthday.

He did everything he did on purpose?

Tears automatic started falling from my eyes.

He did everything on purpose.
Yes.

I always had a doubt if he did everything on purpose because I saw 'kia' his supposed girlfriend in the bar that day.

Some of my friends had forced me to come there.
When one of my friends had asked her on my behalf if she had any boyfriend she had said no.

I thought that virat might have cheated her too or just he was so driven in guilt of cheating me that he broke up.

I didn't dwell upon it.

But today everything makes sense.

He did everything on purpose. it was all his plan.

It was too much for me to handle in a go.

I was going to fall but karishma held my hand.

I saw virat who too was coming to help me stopped when he saw karishma helping me.

I just stared at him.

He diverted his gaze and looked at chavans who too were shocked and crying.

(Virat's pov)

Suddenly baba came towards me and slapped me playfully.

He took a pause, kept his hands on my shoulder and said
"Garv hai mujhe tujh par" while crying.

That was it for me.
I immediately hugged him and cried in his arms.

I missed so much.

He patted my back and broke the hug.

"Chal rao mat" he said while whipping my tears.

"Godu" aai said and held my face in her hands.

"Mujhe maaf kar de, pata nhi meine actually humne tere baare mein kya kya soch lia tha"

"Nhi aai, aap logo ki koi galti nahi hai, saari galti meri hai"

She kept her finger on my lips and gestured me to not say anything.

She then hugged me, I hugged her back.

"Aai" I said while breaking the hug but before I could say mohit jumped on me.

"Dada" he said hugged me.

I hugged him back smiling at his antics.
He hasn't changed even a bit.

"I missed you" he said

"I missed you too"

While all the aunties stood quiet, all of my family members one by one united with me.

I was overwhelmed, not knowing if this was a dream.

I had never thought I'll be able to get my family back.

I was so immersed in my family members that I missed sai going inside.
