Melanie got there first.  She sat and waited at a table in the corner, where hopefully any fans that did come into the shop didn't notice that it was Sebastian Stan, of all people.

Melanie turned to the door as its bell rang, and Sebastian walked through.  He was wearing a blue jacket and jeans.  He looked casual.  Melanie barely ever saw him out of costume.  It was nice.

Seb smiled when he saw her and walked over to the table.

"Hi, Mel," he said.

"Hi," she said, standing up until he sat down.

He smiled.  "You didn't have to do that."

"I didn't mind."

She loved Sebastian's smile.  So much.  She loved seeing it every morning when it was time to do his makeup, when he said goodbye at the end of work, and when she heard it in the tone of his voice over the phone that time.

"So, what are you ordering?" he asked.

"I don't know," she said, turning around and looking at the menu above the counter.  "Maybe just a latte."

"Two, then."

"I'll order," she said, beginning to stand.

"Hey, I'm the one who asked you out.  I'll pay."

"You don't have to do that."

"Trust me, it won't put a dent in my bank account."

Melanie rolled her eyes.

"Okay," she agreed.  "Better not to fight with the Winter Soldier anyway."

Sebastian smiled and began going up to the counter.

"Almond milk, please," said Mel.  Sebastian turned around and nodded.

After ordering he came back and sat down. "They said they'll bring it to our table."

"And they didn't know who you were?" asked Melanie.

Seb shrugged. "Guess not."

Melanie put her head on her hand and looked down at the table.  Sebastian looked at her for a moment, then smiled.  Melanie looked up at him, head still in hand.

"What?" she asked.

"You're just really pretty," said Sebastian.

Melanie blushed. "Thank you.  You're, um, really pretty too."

Sebastian smiled. "I try."

A waitress brought the coffees to their table.  They were in white mugs with the shop's logo printed on them.

"Thanks," said Melanie to the woman.  She nodded and went back behind the counter.

"So," said Sebastian.  "What now?"

"I don't know," said Mel.

"Y'know, Mel, I've thought you were cute for a while."

"Did you?"

"Yeah," said Sebastian, now blushing. "I mean, you were — are — the sweetest person I've ever met.  Like, ever."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't know if you felt the same," said Seb.  "You do... feel the same way, right? I don't want you —"

"I do have feelings for you," assured Melanie.  "I tried to doubt them, too.  Push them away.  Thought you'd never like someone like me."

"Well, you thought wrong," said Sebastian.

Melanie smiled.

"You know, that's funny," said Sebastian.
