Delphi was slowly becoming uncomfortable with her father's advances, "Sweetie, it's just a date, maybe they just lose track of time and sleep in his car, am I right about this Delphi?"
"Yes, that is correct," Delphi said, she mouthed thank you to her mother and she nodded back, she was aware of their text conversations. Her father looked at her mother, she always would put Delphi above him and would constantly have her back, which wasn't always true. "Give me your phone." her father demanded, "I'm not going to let you have my phone, Dad. It's a personal matter..." Delphi replied.
"I am your FATHER, you will obey me." her father was getting frustrated, Delphi's mother tried to de-escalate the situation, but before she could, her father slapped her in the face, and gasped. "D-Delphi, I-I'm so sorry-"But before he could apologize, Delphi ran to her room,locked the door, and cried. Her mother walked to her room, knocked, and asked if she was okay.
"Mom, why is Dad like this? Why is she so upset about me and Forrest being together?" She asked, "Your father just can't take it when you spend time with someone else, he assumes you're going to leave with him and that we'll never see you again." she explained. "Can I come in?" she asked, she opened the door and her mother told her, "I know about your meetups with Forrest, I'm not mad just confused about it, when did this start happening?"
"It started when Dad forbade me to see him," she responded.
