The Story Of Delphi

Chapter 16

When he left the hug, Delphi smiled and asked him to drive safely, he waved and then took the stairs down to the parking lot. Delphi's mother smiled knowing that her husband was getting better mentally and taking care of himself. She reminisced over memories where they had a better relationship and reminded herself of the days in Delphi's youth that they spent together as a family.

When it came time to go to bed, Delphi fell asleep and her mother did the same. In the morning, Delphi and her mother went on a shopping trip to grab groceries. While they were there, Delphi spotted Forrest shopping around, "Hey Forrest!" Forrest looked up and smiled. "Hey!" He replied. Delphi ran over to him and hugged him. As he was holding her, Forrest caressed her face and kissed her forehead. He then let her go and patted her head.

When they left the grocery store, Delphi and her mother went on and on about the similarities of their pregnancies, "When I was pregnant, in the early months, you weren't really painful, but leading up to labor...Oh how I wished for you to come out..." her mother said. While going back home, Delphi realized that her mother had gone through so much pain to have her, and bounced back during those hardships.

As her mother talked about her pregnancy, Delphi became anxious about her pregnancy. When they got home, Delphi laid down on her bed and wondered about the pregnancy and if her body was prepared for that. During this anxiety attack, Forrest called and talked about his anxieties about being a father and she agreed with him and explained her anxieties about being a mother. They talked for more than an hour about parenting plans and discussed many situations while giving birth.

After the talk, she felt much better and was happy to know that she was not alone in her fears. With the help from Forrest, her worries went down and her confidence went up. After the call ended, Forrest asked his parents about his birth and how it went down. They explained that his mom went into labor about 5.5 hours before his birth and was given an epidural to help with the pain. It took about an hour to give birth to Forrest and when he was finally born, she smiled.

Forrest was very awkward upon hearing the story but as soon as the story was over, he spaced out wondering if he would be a good father. During his thoughts, his father called for him and asked why he's interested about the topic of his birth. Forrest explained that Delphi is pregnant with his children and his father was very understanding and gave him encouragement and hugged him. Forrest smiled knowing his parents support him and understand his anxieties.

Later, Delphi's mother offered to go to dinner with Forrest and his parents, his parents accepted the offer and got on the road to the restaurant. When they got there, they got to a table and Forrest talked to Delphi, Delphi's mother and Forrest's mother noticed that they truly cared for each other.
