Jay was back at work and Olinksy had gone undercover and although Hank didn't say much to the team we all knew there was more to this case than either of them was telling us. Jay and I were working late so we were both back at the office, Hailey, Kim, and Adam had also stayed back. We were all struggling to stay awake.

"I'm getting some coffee who wants some?" I asked everyone as I was getting up. All hands went up.

"I'll help you." Kim laughed getting up and going to the coffee room with me. I started brewing the coffee and Kim rinsed a couple of mugs for us while we chatted.

My phone started ringing. "It's Voight give me a sec," I told Kim. "Hello?"

"Get the team to come to Med, Al's been stabbed, it's bad." He hung up not even giving me time to ask any questions.

Kim noticed my expression. "What's wrong?" she asked me.

It took me a second to react but I knew that we had no time. "Let's go!" I ran out of the coffee room. "Jay grab the keys! Al's been stabbed, he's at med." I started running down the stairs since I knew I had to tell Trudy.

"Hey hon" Trudy just looked up to see who was coming down the steps but didn't take in my expression.

"Trudy Al's been stabbed." Her head shot up looking at me for any signs of a lie of doubt.

"Let's go." Jay had come down and was waving us over. Trudy ran around her desk grabbing her coat and coming with us. Jay drove Trudy and I, everyone following close behind. I kept checking my phone hoping Hank would call or at least text with an update but nothing.

We finally pulled up to the hospital and there was a nurse who led us to a waiting room, we all sat and waited in silence. My leg kept bouncing up and down and I felt helpless, as I'm sure everyone else did. I couldn't help but wonder what went wrong, what we could have done to avoid this.

I felt Jay's hand rubbing my back serving as a sign of comfort for both him and me as I placed my hand on his thigh. It felt like we had been waiting forever when we finally saw the doctor and Voight coming. We all stood up waiting to hear the news.

Hank took a deep breath in. "He didn't make it." I broke down in silence only turning to Trudy whose face was filled with complete devastation. She opened her arms at the same time that I stepped over to her letting myself fall into her arms.

"I'm so sorry Mah." I couldn't help but think of the amazing friend Trudy had lost, after all, he had been there for her through thick and thin as well as for me...and for all of us.

She pulled away and kissed my forehead. "I'm sorry too honey." She gave me a hug again.

I then turned to see Jay had stormed out of the room angry and I knew it was best to give him space now, to process and deal with whatever he had to before coming to me when he was ready.

We all sat in silence one more time, crying and mourning the loss of one of the best people we all were lucky enough to know. Jay came back sitting next to me, I could tell he had cried from his red eyes, he took my hand and I knew I didn't have to say anything. He knew I was there for him and he was there for me.

"I know guys, I know you guys are angry, but the best thing we can do for Al right now is catch whoever did this to him." Hank talked to us.

We all headed back to the precinct to get started with work, forgetting all about how tired we were only moments ago and not wasting a second in trying to find the people responsible for Al's death.

Luckily with security footage and Hank's methods of interrogation, we were able to find the people responsible in good time and now it was time for us to wrap everything up. We all agreed to head next to the river to raise a toast to Al.

Jay and I drove together and once we got there we all parked in a circle, Adam had stopped to get some beer for us all. He handed everyone one, Kim sat up on our car and Jay leaned against it while I leaned against him then Trudy started telling us a story about Al.

"And I looked down and his pant leg is soaked in blood and I go Al what the hell happened!? And he looks at me with that calm expression and he goes yeah...I got shot." We giggle remembering Al's relaxed attitude but I noticed that by the end of the story Trudy was breaking down, I held her hand giving it a tight squeeze.

"To Al" We all raised our beers pouring some out on the ground before taking a sip. We continued telling stories, some of us couldn't help but shed a few tears. But I think that Jay and I were both able to see that everyone had started to get what we had been saying about how tomorrow isn't promised for any of us.

I turned around and hugged hay, burrying my head in his chest. He put his arms around me crossing them over my back. "I love you baby." He whispered to me kissing the top of my head.

"I love you too." I whispered back.

"I'm here alright." he then whispered.

I looked up at him. "Me too...we'll get through this together." I sighed.

"Yes we will." He leaned down to kiss me.
