The next morning, I made my coffee and went to the round table. Dr. Banner was already there.
"Good morning Agent Steel" he says
"Good morning, Dr. And, please, just Kate is fine" I say and he nods.
That's when Thor walks in and takes a seat beside me.
"I thought we were gonna talk last night" he whispers to me
"I wasn't in the mood" I say
"Did Loki tell you something?" he asks
"Yeah. A lot of things actually. We'll talk about it later" I answer.
The last one to join us was Stark.
"Late as always" Fury says
"I brought donuts" he says letting the box on the table. He was already chewing on a donut as he sat down on his chair.
"Why do we even need to be here? Call us when you make progress with Loki" he adds
"I'm sorry that this does not entertain you, Stark, but--"
"I actually agree with him" I say and everyone looks at me
"When I make progress, I'll let you know" I add.
Fury looks back and forth between me and Stark for a second before talking again
"Fine. Everyone besides Agent Steel is dismissed" he says
"Amazing. Welcome to the team Steel. The donuts are yours" Stark says as he leaves and I chuckle.
"Like we said Steel, you go in there and you appear as a friend this time. You don't argue, you empathize, you are sensitive. If you trick him emotionally, we got him" Fury says
"Can I take Thor with me?" I ask
"Why?" he asks
"Seeing his brother may make him more vulnerable" I answer
"Are you ok with it?" he asks Thor
"Yes" he answers
"Go. And no more sneaking in, in the middle of the night, Agent Steel, am I clear?" he asks
"Yes sir, I'm sorry" I say and we leave.
"How does he know?" I ask Thor
"I don't know" he answers
"You were supposed to have my back" I say
"I did" he insists and I sign.
"Ok. As soon as we walk in, I'll change the cameras so Fury will be watching an illusion. That way we can talk free" I whisper to him as we walk
"Alright" he replies.
On our way, we came across Cap, who was carrying his shield with him. We stopped as he stopped.
"Captain" I say
"I don't think we had the chance to talk. Steve Rogers" he says offering his hand
"Katelyn Steel. Or just Kate" I say shaking his hand, but avoiding touching the shield
"Ok Kate. So Loki..." he says
"Yeah, we gotta go to him now" I say, trying to get away
"Of course, sorry" he says, getting out of our way
"Thank you" I say and I keep walking.
"Are you alright Kate?" Thor asks as he follows me
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" I answer.
He opens the door of the room for me and as soon as he does, I mess with the cameras.
"This is gonna get you in trouble" Thor says as we walk in
