RICKY WALKED INTO THE East swimming pool, skateboard-free this time, and scanned the seating area. After defeating North in their last match, the East High Leopards were in the finals against the West High Knights.

He smiled as he saw Ashlyn, Big Red and his smile slowly vanished when he saw...Gina. His waving faltered as her head turned towards him. Her presence made him a little nervoushe was sure she would scowl at him. But to his surprise, she waved back, ushering him towards them. She yelled, "Hey, Ricky! Come sit over here!"

Walking up the stands, he caught Cash Caswell. He tried smiling to show that there were no hard feelings, but Mr Caswell reciprocated with the opposite response, sending him a chilling stare. He watched as his eyes turned, watching him walk further up the steps slowly, then gave Ashlyn and Big Red a big smile he didn't know he was capable of.

It was probably for the best that he sat away from him.

"Hey, Gi!" Ricky smiled cheerfully, taking the seat next to her. Their polite smiles at each other lasted a few seconds before Ricky tried to say, "Hey, Gina...I'm really sorry."

"It's okay. I'm over it..." she assured, squeezing his shoulder, smiling. "Let's leave the past in the past."

"Really? I thought you hated me."
