"Now keep in mind, she's a tad skittish," the doctor said.
Vaelan nodded and walked in. The room was white, filled with various machines, a counter, a bed, and a chair next to the bed. On the bed lay a thin blue sheet over an even thinner white sheet, and two pillows in blue casing.
Anna, whose once heavy robotic arms had now been replaced with thinner, more humanoid yet still robotic arms, was splayed out across the bed with a sort of awkward face that showed that she didn't quite know what to do. Vaelan walked over to the bedside.
"Hey," he said, a curious smile on his face when he heard Anna quietly counting, her eyes darted around, never focusing for too long.
Her eyes suddenly darted to him, both a dazzling icy blue.
"Two thousand three hundred and seventy-two," Anna tonelessly said before continuing to count.
He placed his hands on his lap and sat beside her, "Geez, did you learn that from Villin?"
She kept counting, and Vaelan simply listened for a while. Anna kept counting and counting until she eventually stopped. Three thousand and forty was the final number. When she stopped, she sat up and looked at Vaelan- studied him intently, even. He looked back at her, her short gold hair had lengthened to the base of her head now and a cold aura crept off of her.
Cryomancy, he thought.
"So," he said, "Whatcha counting?"
"Auras," she said, when he focused, he realized that her voice was hoarse and a little scratchy, yet she wasn't ill all the same.
"Oh?" He tilted his head, "And have you found Christopher's?"
Her hand raised and pointed behind Vaelan, a little to his right- he knew she was right, too. In that general direction, just a few halls down, sleeping comfortably with Elizabeth in a chair next to him was Christopher.
Strong Aurasense, he noted in his head.
"Can you sense the auras within mine?"
She nodded, "There's sixteen of them, who are they?"
"Good question, however, I don't know either," he said.
"What's your name?" She asked.
"Talv Vaelan Kemandarro, Prince of the Pride Kingdom, and Greater Archdevil. Though just Vaelan is fine," he smirked, basking in his words.
The girl giggled, "That's a lot!"
"Agreed," he told her.
The door swung open and the girl flinched. A nurse strode in and Vaelan kept his eyes trained on her.
"Excuse me, but we're going to need to take a quick blood sample," the nurse said.
Anna quickly scrambled behind Vaelan and the nurse lunged for her.
"Now Anna, we can't keep doing this!" The two continued scrambling around Vaelan, who also moved around to avoid bumping into either of them.
When the moment arrived, Vaelan scooped up Anna and held the nurse at a distance. Both were left in shock as Vaelan stood straight-faced with annoyance sparking in his eyes.
"Enough, you're scaring her," he said as he looked down at Anna, "What are the blood tests for?"
The nurse sighed, looking offended, "We need a final sample to test whether her blood has adjusted well to her new arms."
Vaelan looked back to Anna and placed back down on her feet, her legs wobbled.
"Anna, will you let her take the blood test?"
