"So you're saying that we worked together for weeks, confessed feelings to each other, and then I got kidnapped?" Mara asked.

Natasha chuckled and nodded. "Great. Just my luck. And now I don't even remember you. I'm sorry." Mara said looking down.

"Hey, it's okay. I'll make sure you remember even if it's the last thing I do." She smiled at the brunette. She meant every word she spoke. She could not give up on Mara, even if it may have been the easier choice.

The two were interrupted by a guard who brought food for Mara. "Here, I'll give it to her." Natasha offered. The guard shrugged and handed the tray of food to her. She opened the cell door and walked inside.

Mara quickly stood up and moved back, unsure if she could trust her own mind. "Don't worry, I trust you" Natasha spoke as she went to sit on the small bed.

"I know, but I'm not sure I can trust myself. I did try and kill you and Captain America." Mara sighed. "Just come sit and eat." The redhead spoke, patting the spot next to her.

Mara hesitantly moved to the bed and sat down. She took the tray and started eating. She kept feeling Natasha's eyes on her and started feeling awkward eating in front of her in silence.

"You know that in some cultures staring is rude, right?" She said, unaware of the fact that she said that exact same sentence on time in the van.

"Yes, I remember you told me that" Natasha said with a short laugh that sent butterflies through Mara's stomach. "Then why are you staring at me while I'm eating? It's very awkward."

"Because I'm still trying to figure you out." She spoke. The sentence somehow resonated with Mara, as she started to remember the conversation they had in the van on their way to the office building in Phoenix.

"I just remembered something as you said that" she told Natasha with a smile. The redhead looked at her expecting Mara to tell her about the conversation.

"We were in this old van driving somewhere and I told you that you were staring, to which you said 'I'm still trying to figure you out'" Mara explained. This brought a smile to Natasha's face, because it meant that by using certain phrases she could get Mara to remember things.

"That's great! Now, this is just the beginning. Hopefully we can get you to remember everything." She said.

"Did they manage to get anything from Whitehall yet about my parents?"

"No, he's not saying a single word. Even with a bit of torture he keeps his mouth shut. But we'll get answers soon hopefully." The redhead responded.

Mara was not very hopeful at all, but kept that to herself. Perhaps she would be proven wrong.

"Do you think I can take a shower? I stink." Mara said with a chuckle. "Sure and you're right, you do stink" Natasha joked back, causing Mara to fake gasp.

The two made their way to Natasha's room where Mara could shower. She let the warm water hit her skin as she washed off all the blood and dirt from her body. She suddenly felt another memory come back.

It was her and Natasha in a motel room. She smiled as she remember the way Natasha looked at her when she left that bathroom. She thought about everything for a moment and knew she should make a move soon. They both liked each other and she could no longer ignore it.

She didn't care that her memory was hazy. She felt this strange sense of trust and attraction to Natasha and did not care anymore if anyone thought it would be too soon.

She stepped out of the shower and dried herself off. She walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her, realising she did not have clean clothes with her.

Natasha noticed her coming out and couldn't help but stare, causing Mara to smirk. "Do you have any clothes I could borrow?" The redhead nodded and walked over to her closet, grabbing some sweats and an oversized shirt that should fit Mara just right.

She walked back into the room and handed the clothes to Mara. They made eye contact at the exchange and got lost in each other's eyes. Emerald green meeting sky blue in a moment of captivity. Mara smiled down at the redhead and walked to the bathroom with the clothes.

After getting dressed, she walked back out and saw Natasha sitting on the bed. She went to sit next to her and looked at those green eyes once more. "You know, I remember that first night at the motel and the way you looked at me" she said with a smirk.

Natasha looked up at her with slightly wide eyes, as if she had been caught. Mara did not hesitate for a moment before grabbing the redheads neck and pulling her in for a kiss. Both assassins' stomachs exploded with butterflies as their lips moved perfectly in-sync with one another.

After a while, both of them pulled away breathless. "I've wanted to do that for so long" Natasha said with a giant grin on her face. Mara smiled back and pecked her lips once more. "I don't remember much yet, but I knew I wanted to do that too and I certainly don't regret it."
