Chapter Eleven

( This chapter is a bit random. )

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was more than love—
I and my Annabel Lee—
With a love that the wingèd seraphs of Heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,
Went envying her and me—
Yes!—that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we—
Of many far wiser than we—
And neither the angels in Heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling—my darling—my life and my bride,
In her sepulchre there by the sea—
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

The village was silent. 
Snow smashed down apon the pavements and rooftops. Hitting tin shed roofs, and disturbing cattle. 
The clouds had covered the moon, blocking all light from reaching the empire. 
Fires burned, tears were shed, and Candles were lit in memory of Emily. 
Although the festival was hampered, the citizens hearts were not shattered. They sung softly to themselves as they baked biscuits. The children began to make cards and decorations. 
Some drew out instruments and gently began to play. 

One elf walked through the street. 
Their brown hair falling low over their green eyes. Their green suit covered in a white frosting. 
The Elf had a dark red Violin case slung under their arm. 
The figure walked past all the frosted windows and closed doors. 

The brunette walked through the town towards Aeors church, the church was located near the center of Riverdell. 
The elf glanced down at the stain of blood, before continuing to walk. The figure glided up the stairs, pulled open the doors, walked in and then closed it with a thump. 

Their suit tails flew out behind them as they climbed the ladder to the roof. 
The trapdoor that led to the slanted roof opened and the person appeared. The case was slung up onto the tiles as the elf climbed the last railing.

The brunette unlocked the case with a click. 
They removed a violin bow and the violin followed soon after. The case clicked shut again, and the elf stood. 
The violinist walked to the head of the church, looking over riverdell, breath fanning out in front of their emrald eyes. 

The violin was placed securely under their chin, bow positioned above the strings. 
Max took a deep breath and began to play. 

Music flooded the streets of Riverdell. 
Poking into the small cracks of houses, telling the inhabitants that someone was awake. 
Children made their way to their windows, listening. 
Those close to the church looked out their windows in astonishment. 

Some opened doors to watch. 
A minute into Max's song, another instrument joined. 
The sound of a flute echoed form another part of the empire, Rolling across roof tops to reach all corners of this magic place. 
Then another instrument joined, a piano. 
A young boy dashed into the street holding a Gutair. He crouched down near a fountain and with the sound of water rushing, he began to play alongside the others. 


Pearl listened from her balcony as the music got louder. 
Kathrine was standing next to her, eyes shinning. 
The other rulers were listening in surprise. 

Max began to sing as they played. 

" I've got a record player that was made in 2014
Dyed my hair blue, it came out a seasick sort of green
I like vintage dresses when they fall just below my knees
I pretend I scraped them climbing in the trees, " 

Kathrine joined in, except a different song. 

" And all I am is a man
I want the world in my hands
I hate the beach
But I stand in California with my toes in the sand
Use the sleeves of my sweater
Let's have an adventure
Head in the clouds but my gravity centered
Touch my neck and I'll touch yours
You in those little high waisted shorts, oh. " 

The boy near the fountain joined. 

" I wanna be your slave
I wanna be your master
I wanna make your heart beat
Run like rollercoasters
I wanna be a good boy
I wanna be a gangster
'Cause you can be the beauty
And I could be the monster. "

Joey joined in from a few stories down. 

" I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead
I don't know how to say this
'Cause you're really my dearest friend. " 

Scott and Solidarity joined in. 

" Sometimes, all I think about is you
Late nights in the middle of June
Heat waves been faking me out
Can't make you happier now

Alissa down in the training room was singing alongside Kitsune. 

" It's great to be a god
Tread where mortals have not trod
Be defied when really you're a sham
Be an object of devotion
Be the subject of psalms
It's a terrifying notion
All those prayers and those salaams
Any normal man would bridle if he's forced to be an idol
And a normal man's exactly what I am. "
