With my eyes fixated on the two women before me, I jerked backward until there was a safe distance between us. The whole gathering of royals had their focus on us, and I couldn't help but wonder why there weren't sending security out. A cynical laugh filled the air, and I found myself glaring at Sharq.

"You are probably wondering why no one is coming to your rescue?" She lifted her hand and a symbol of fire etched into her skin. "Do you know what this is?"

I wasn't in the mood for playing her guessing games, so I snapped, "What is that, you crazy bitch?"

A serpentine smile spread across the green-haired devil's face. "This, my friend, is a royal symbol."

My heart skipped a beat as my eyes widened in disbelief. "You're a royal descendant of Desidia's royals?"

She nodded. "That's right. Kitten. My word is the law."

I froze. This was a complete nightmare. There was no way this could be happening.

I spotted Devlin and my father running my way in desperation. However, they were quickly seized and pushed back by Desidian guards who I guessed worked under Madame Sharq.

The lady in green, Sharq, then snapped her well-manicured fingers together, and, before I could piece together what was going on, the red-haired woman dashed in my direction with a blade in a tight grip. She swiped it at my neck, but I dodged it seamlessly. I could see her every movement with such detail I could paint a picture.

Hepler tried at me again and again but failed every single time. It was just too easy; her movements were slow.

Annoyance washed over the redhead's features as she sent a deathly glare my way. Madame Sharq clapped and complimented me, "Well done, kitty. You've come a long way."

"You're going to have to do more than that to even scratch me," I said brusquely.

Sharq stretched out her hands. "Oh, kitty. We're devils. We always have something up our sleeves." She motioned to Hepler, and that was when things got serious.

Hepler's eyes grew bright red with revenge as her body began its transformation. Her skin began to go pitch black, her ram-like horns grew from her skull, and her veins were bright neon green. It looked similar to Devlin's transformation, but instead of flaming red (and super long horns), everything was a piercing green (and her horns were kind of short).

I stepped back in fear of the worst. This wasn't a good situation at all.

Madame Sharq's snakelike smile returned as she commanded, "Hepler, show little kitten here why even angels fear us."

I stepped back and stealthily whipped out my dagger. My eyes traveled to my hands and noticed they were in a terrible shake. "Shit."

The transformed devil lunged at me. One second, she was a few feet away from me, then the next, she was right in my face. Her long clawed hands grabbed my head and bashed it into the balcony fence. I lost consciousness for a moment, and when I woke up, the terrifying devil was back beside her lady in green.
