Yelena's POV:
Maybe the letter was a stupid idea after all. I mean Y/N most likely didn't even want to see me, but it's worth a try after all. I left the letter at her/his/their house not long ago. I wonder if she/he/they saw it. My thoughts kept racing and all I could think of were the worst case scenarios. And then my phone rang at least it distracted me from my thoughts. The caller ID was unknown. "Hello." I said. "Heyy girl this is Onyan!" He shouted from the other side of the phone. "Oh hey sorry I haven't been online much." I apologised to him. "It's totally fine, but I've got some good news and bad news." He said in a now serious tone. "So the good news is my mother gave us 15000 euros each!" He exclaimed really happily. "Oh woah that's a lot I'll thank her after we call." I said. Why would she even pay us that much? It's probably my parents money anyways. "So now for the bad news." He started. Gosh this made me so nervous. "Brace yourself for this one Yelena." He said worriedly. "Okay, okay stop beating around the bush." I said filled with nerves. "We're leaving Marley tomorrow afternoon." He said sadly. "What no! Don't joke like that!" I said irritatedly. "No I'm serious my mum sorted out everything and I have our tickets for the flight." He said dead seriously. "I don't believe you." I said. Did I not believe him or did I not want to believe him? "If you really don't believe me I'll even send you a picture." He started. I didn't even want to see the picture. I already felt sick to my stomach. And it turned out he wasn't lying we really were going back home tomorrow. I wasn't ready. The year hadn't even ended and now I had to go back home and look after my sickly aunt. "But your mother has a nurse to care for her why can't we stay?" I questioned. I felt my voice breaking, but as sad as I was I held back the tears threatening to spill from my eyes. "Yelena it won't be for too long and everything will be okay." He said in a 'I'm trying to reassure you' tone. And it made me feel sicker. "I've got to do something I'll talk later." I said shakily. "Yelena wait-"
Before he could finish his sentence I cut the call. I really hope Y/N met me at the lake, because this could be the last time we'd ever see each other. I changed out of my pyjamas and into something that's wearable.
Yelena's outfit:

This outfit was probably my signature look and my favourite outfit that I owned

This outfit was probably my signature look and my favourite outfit that I owned. I checked the time and it was now 23:30 just half an hour till midnight. I grabbed my clutch purse and threw in my phone, lipgloss, pepper spray and extra cash. Well I had the essentials so I'd now be on my way. I quickly locked my dorm room and hurried down the corridor and accidentally bumped into someone. "Idiot." I heard the person mumble. It was Annie. We just exchanged looks and proceeded to get up and then once again we bumped into each other. Annie said nothing and nor did I. "Where are you of too?" Annie asked making intense eye contact. "A pub." I said. "You're a terrible liar." She said and left me sitting on the floor. Was I a terrible liar? Or could Annie just see through anyone's lies? I didn't have time to ponder about things like that now. I was leaving tomorrow. It felt surreal and impossible. "It doesn't feel right." I heard myself say aloud. Welp nobody heard that thank goodness. I was really going to miss taking late night walks in Marley and going to the beach for a smoke. Ah shit I forgot my cigarettes there's no way I'm leaving anywhere without those. I sprinted to the dorms and got my cigarettes. I glanced at the clock and the time read 23:44. Ugh I have to hurry otherwise Y/N will think I ditched her/him/them. During my walk all I could think about were the things I was going to miss and Zeke certainly wasn't one. I couldn't believe how I was so obsessed with him. I look back at it now and I cringe so hard. I guess the validation felt good, but the relationship was wrong no matter what way you look at it. I can't believe I told Y/N I wasn't over him. Cringe, cringe, cringe! I thought. 'Well I mean we won't have to see that douchebag anymore!' My inner voice exclaimed. I could agree with that. I walked along the train tracks and wondered if somehow a train would knock me even though this train had been broken for years. I'm glad I didn't wear heels otherwise getting to this place would be a pain in the butt. The walk felt longer than it was meant to be. But I rather walk along this train track forever then go back home and see my aunt. Gosh was she bitchy and rude. I was nearing the lake and checked the time 00:14. I wonder if Y/N had left by now. I used my phone torch to guide me along this place and finally I'd arrived. I saw a familiar silhouette sitting alone scrolling on their phone. "Y/N!" I exclaimed as I ran up to her/him/them. "I thought you were going to ditch me." Y/N said unimpressed. "Sorry I forgot my cigarettes and had to go back to my dorm." I started. "Hush it's okay you're here now aren't you." She/he/they said in a comforting tone. "I ran into Annie at the dorms." I said. "Oh yeah she was coming from my apartment." Y/N said. "That's cool." I replied. I didn't know what to say. "Um I got you some sushi." Y/N said and handed me a box of avo maki sushi. "Thanks it's my favourite." I beamed. "Someone's a lot nicer than usual." Y/N said jokingly. "Well about that..." I trailed off. "I was just joking." She/he/they said and gave me a light punch on the arm. "I'm leaving Marley tomorrow afternoon." I said. Y/N just laughed. "No I'm being serious." I said in an even more serious tone. "No ways you would have told me earlier." Y/N said whilst still laughing. "Look." I said and showed her/him/them the plane tickets that Onyankopon had sent me earlier. "Oh." Y/N said in a hushed voice. It was more than evident that she/he/they didn't know what to say. We sat there in an awkward silence staring at the lake. "How long?" Y/N asked. "What?" I asked in confusion. "How long will you be gone for?" She/he/they asked. "Probably forever or at least till my aunt dies." I replied with a small chuckle. Y/N didn't laugh which made this all even more awkward than it was meant to be. "You'll still call me an text me and visit Marley?" Y/N asked with uncertainty in her/his/their voice. "I don't know." I said honestly and ate a piece of my sushi. "Well in that case." Y/N said and picked up her/his/their phone and started to walk off. "Hey where are you going?"I called out to Y/N. "We don't have time to waste Yelena let's do something fun!" Y/N exclaimed with a happy look on her/his/their face. "But what?" I asked. It was late at night and I would be leaving soon there wasn't much to do. "No time for questions just follow me." She/he/they said. "So you're not angry with me?" I asked cautiously . "I just found it embarrassing that you pretended to like me and then run off to some ghost town and then tell me you still like your ex." Y/N said bluntly. This suddenly felt awkward. "I didn't pretend." I said. There was a long moment of silence and I averted my gaze to the moon. It was shining so brightly and it made everything around it look ethereal. "I don't see why you should get into a relationship when you still like someone else." Y/N said coldly. Why was Y/N still my friend after everything that I did to her/him/them. But I knew that I did like her/him/them I was just horrible at expressing it. "I thought about it for a long while Y/N and I just wanted validation from Zeke." I said slowly. I never liked to admit that I was a side chick to Zeke or that I even had any feelings for him. "I knew that." Y/N said as she/he/they looked into my eyes. Y/N's eyes weren't cold she/he/they had a softened look in her/his/their eyes. "You did?" I asked. "Sometimes you just have to figure out things on your own without being told." Y/N said. "Since when did you get so wise?" I asked jokingly and playfully punched her/him/them in the arm. "I think I'm spending too much time with Annie." Y/N said and let out a chuckle. I was still following Y/N along the train tracks and I couldn't help but wonder where we were going. I didn't ask, because I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere of not knowing where I was going on a pretty night like this. "You know Annie really doesn't like me and we used to be friends it feels like a slap in the face sometimes." I said to Y/N. "I don't think Annie dislikes you I think she wants you to be more stable and just has a really weird way of saying it." She/he/they said. "I'm going to miss this town so much." I said with my voice cracking a little bit. "You'll be back so don't worry you idiot." Y/N said with that look in her/his/face. "Are we there yet?" I asked as I tried to avoid the emotions of everything, mainly myself. "Oh my gosh just wait." Y/N groaned and gave me a small glare. "Okay, okay." I said. It felt like a lot of time had passed and finally we had arrived. "What's this?" I asked. There were people and stalls and games and food everywhere, except it was past midnight and it was in the middle of nowhere. My favourite part about it was it was near the beach in Marley which was probably my favourite place to smoke weed. "It's a night market not a cult don't worry." Y/N said jokingly. "How'd you find this place?" I asked. In all the time I spent in Marley I never had found a place as cool as this one. "Oh you know I have my ways." She/he/they said slyly. "Fine don't tell me." I said and rolled my eyes. The place was really nicely decorated and I kind of wanted to stay here forever despite me only just seeing it a few seconds ago.
