Hi guys. Sometimes, being an author on here is so hard 🥲

Enjoy~

(y/n)'s POV

"What is it Kirishima?" I asked, stumbling around in front of him. The toes of his shoes stepped occasionally on the backs of mine, his hands over my eyes. I was fully situated back in school and was feeling a whole lot better from the attack. I wasn't so sure my presence would be the best choice at the training camp, so I was considering staying back at UA for those few days. Kirishima and I had been talking a lot these past few days, though Bakugo had been keeping his respectable distance. He didn't seem to want to be all friendly, which was to be expected, but he was fully ignoring me at this point. At least he would acknowledge the other classmates at times. After everything that had happened, I had naively expected him to be...something. At least Kirishima and Bakugo seemed to be doing better, in respect to their friendship.

"I'm so glad you're back," Kirishima said. "We weren't done doing new things together."

"Will we ever be done?"

"The hope is no," he said, offering up a candy he had purchased from the store. I took it with my lip pinned between my teeth.

"How are things with you?" I asked, crossing my legs underneath me.

"Just trust me, this way," he said, turning me with a warm hand on my gauze. Even through layers of bandage, it was still awkward to have Kirishima guide my waist. His hand returned to my eye, which I had kept closed out of solidarity.

I had been dreading today for a couple reasons.

It was my birthday and that meant I was the ripe age for All for One's picking. Being 16 didn't seem all that it was cracked up to be. That was the main reason, I figured All for One had a reminder in his calendar for today. If he wasn't looking for me, he would notice when my parents weren't there to turn me in.

That brought up another point about my mother. I hadn't seen her since I lashed out about my quirk. I had determined that my father could not regenerate his scars, but I could because of my inheritance from my mother. She seemed so genuine when she said she had tried to keep him from doing it, but I didn't know if she was trying to gaslight me. That was all she could do behind bars. I considered going to see her, but that wasn't a very good birthday present now was it?

I also didn't want to celebrate a day about me. I would never say it to anyone, especially not Kirishima, but it would've been so much simpler if I wasn't born. It was nice to get to know all my classmates and get to know other people, but what I truly believed in was the convenience of inexistence. I figured people would argue with me about it, so I couldn't bring it up and that gave me less reason to refuse a birthday celebration.

Kirishima didn't know about my birthday. Only Midoriya did, and I had made him promise me a cake and nothing more. This seemingly big celebration was not in the agreement, nor was telling Kirishima.

"Is this--"

"Don't guess and spoil the surprise!" he interrupted and I sighed. We stopped and Kirishima positioned me, hands flush against my sides. My eyes stayed closed until Kirishima announced I could open them. "Okay, open!"

I opened my eyes to a room full of streamers and balloons, a 3 tier cake with a big 16 shaped candle upon the table, and all the classmates blowing noisemakers.

"Surprise!" he called, jumping from my side to in front of me. I looked to Midoriya who stood looking slightly guilty, a party blower in his mouth.

"Thank--"

"And look!" Kirishima called, turning me around to a print out of Mineta, waiting for a 'tail' to be pinned on him. I looked to Kirishima, slightly baffled.
