we walked back into the school going our separate ways until after school we would walk home together like usual. I walk to the back of my first period class and sit down beside Mackenzie and ask her how she was.
"i'm good, but, I keep seeing you and Noah walking around together. what's up with that?" Mackenzie asks.
'oh yea, in this school Noah is really popular, I completely forgot.' I think to my self. I turn to Mackenzie to answer her question and open my mouth to say something but she cuts me off
"why are you blushing cay?"
"uh, no reason." I say and turn away, "Noah and I are just neighbours, nothing going on." I say nervously laughing
Mackenzie looks at me grinning, "you're going to tell me everything at lunch." she says smirking
[time skip]
I tell Mackenzie everything between Noah and I, excluding that he and I are werewolves. she looks at me with disbelief,
"you realize that so many girls have been trying to go out with him for years right? and then you show up and boom! girlfriend." she emphasizes
"I know I know its fast..." I look at my phone, "oh, lunch is almost over, I'll see you tomorrow Mackenzie." I say while running to my next class.
As I'm running to my next class I smell a faint scent, "Mmm, honey. Oh! And lemons." I mutter to myself, the smell is so good, like my favourite.
I sift to where the scent is and find a guy probably around Noah's age with dark hair standing with 2 girls and 2 other boys laughing at him. The scented guy has his hands up looking down at the girls and slowly backing up.
Mate
I hear the word ringing in my head as if someone is saying it in my thoughts.
" wha? I'll ask Noah about it later, and what the heck is a mate?" I say walking back to my classes.
- - - time skip
I walk to the back of the school where I usually meet Noah.
"Hey cadence." Noah says smirking.
" Noah, what's a mate?" I ask him
His face goes blank,
"It's a were wolf's soulmate, their destined parter." He says emotionless
"Oh." I say
" If you meet your mate it should always smell like something you love when you're around them." Noah looks down
" do you have a mate Noah?" I quietly ask
"No." He answers bluntly
"O-oh, if I-"
" I know you found your mate cadence, I saw him. No matter what we will still be friends. Oh and also, you have a wolf living inside of you, she can talk to you through your thoughts. And the eclipse wolf that you turned into and you blacked out. That was her." Noah then walks off and shifts into his wolf, leaving.
