Mateos eyes widened at hearing the words eclipse wolves

"You're both eclipse wolves?" Mateo asks

"Yea." I mutter

Mateo blinks and then scoops both of us up into a huge bear hug

"You're my family!" He yells

"Woah Mateo we just met!" Amy yells

"Ok ok let me explain, you both have powers yes?" He questions

"Yup." We both say

"Ok so only queen lunar's family has powers so we are all related, prolly cousins." He says

My eyes widen

"Shit, thanks a lot moon goddess." Amy says

I laugh at her

"So are you two going to stay here?" He asks

"Probably not, I have family back somewhere in New York." I say

"Can come back with you both?!" He asks excitedly

"If you're allowed sure, but we would need somewhere for you guys to stay." I say

We walked the rest of the way to Mateos village, Amy pouting that Mateo wasn't her mate and Mateo and I chatting

"I really don't want a mate, they're so much work." Mateo said

"You can say that again." I replied sighing

At that second Amy spun around and faced us

"How dare you say that about mates! I have been searching for mine as soon as I could smell! Mates will always be there for you and they'll never let you down. How could you not want that?" Amy almost started crying after saying that

Mateo and I both looked shocked

"Amy," I hugged her, "we had no idea mates meant so much to you." I said sympathetically

"Yeah, sorry for not realizing Amy." Mateo said nervously

Amy wipes at her eyes and smiles at both of us, "thanks." She said

"We're here." Mateo said pointing at a huge amount of palm and oak huts lining a river full of fish.

"Wowowowowow!" I yelled

"It's so pretty!" Amy stared at it

"I've lived here since I was found washed up at the river when I was three." Mateo said

Mateo walked us in and showed us around his village, we tried starfruit and papaya and some other fruit that tasted like popcorn. There were little kids running around everywhere, one came up to Mateo and grabbed his leg.

"Kero! How's it going buddy?" Mateo said smiling to the boy

The boy looked up and fist bumped Mateo and then turned to us,

"Shiff?" Kero said

Since he was 4 or around that I assumed he meant shift, I looked at Mateo and he nodded.

"Ready to shift Amy?" I asked

"Me too?" Amy said surprised

I nodded

We both shifted for kero and we also showed Mateo our wolf forms, me in all white and Amy beige and black.

"I'm Serena," I say "that's Carrie."

Kero smiled and Mateo laughed and then shifted into a big brown wolf with grey freckles on his flank.

"I'm Theo." Mateos wolf said

Amy grinned and ran off through the jungle

"Amy! Wait up!" I laughed chasing after her

Theo ran beside my clearly struggling with his stamina,

"When was the last time you ran?" I ask

"I don't know. Last week but not for this long." Mateo said panting

Mateo and I heard a yelp and whimpering from up ahead, we ran faster to see Amy whimpering with her paw held up and a black snake disappearing into the bushes
