Magic can be a funny thing. Just when you think you've got it all figured out, it changes. It will always do whatever it wants, there's no changing that, but the way things came about just seem so comical.

If all she wanted was some guy to fawn over her, I'd shove my brother at her. I wouldn't mind. He likes her, she likes him, and neither of them have a mass of negative energy around them. In fact, they both seemed a little too happy about everything. It was sickening. Shame, really.

I wanted to protect Nilla, at least, that's what I said to try to convince myself. It was for her best interests. She would be better off without him. There were so many things about him I wanted to tell her but couldn't, not just because of my own selfishness, but because of the nature of men. Besides, the way he had his claws in her so quickly, there was no doubt in my mind that we'd stop being friends the very moment she found out, so I waited. I was good at waiting.
