When Scaramouche released you from his grip, his lips pulling away from yours. You weren't sure how you felt. A warm yet aching feeling lingered in your chest.

He pulled you in once again, and wrapped his arm around your neck before resting his head on your shoulder. Ignoring the fact that his hat had fallen off, his attention was on you and only you.

The comfort of your warmth and the sound of your heart beating calmed his mind. He didn't want to let you go. He wanted to keep you in his arms forever, as if the world would crumble apart if he were to let go. "I'm sorry," Scaramouche unexpectedly whispers, "...if I had just never left." His grip on your shirt tightened as he spoked and your were stunned.

Though you were surprised, part of you already knew and understood why Scaramouche left.

He never truly wanted to erase your memories, nor did he want to leave. He was alike a scared child holding tightly onto his mother's arm, and you couldn't help but smile softly as you ruffled his hair.

Always picking the roughest paths... he was quite the stubborn one.

"It'll be okay," you reassured, causing Scaramouches emotions to waver.

Holding himself back and preventing himself from showing any type vulnerability was almost unbearable. Words couldn't describe how frustrated he was. It was a gamble. Would the Gnosis save you or will it kill you? He didn't know. But, the Harbinger couldn't help but think to himself,

"Would any of this had happened if I had never left?" Was Scaramouches greatest regret, and because of this, he blamed himself.  Despite his cunning and self-confidence act. Out of everyone and everything in the whole of Teyvat... he hated himself more then anything.

And he hated seeing you with other men. It tortured and irritated him more then anything in the world, yet he still left— hoping that maybe someone else could take his place and make you happy instead. 'Because a puppet like him, didn't belong with humans.'

But oh how that turned out.

No matter how hard Scaramouche tried to protect you, it never worked out. You'd always end up being hurt one way or other, and it pained him to see you suffer by the consequences of his actions.

The way you smile, the way you laughed, the warmth of your body, and the soothing tone of your voice. He adored and wanted to protect all of it.

If only he could trade the world to be with you forever.

"I promise I'll fix everything. I'll save you. I won't let anyone of those scums hurt you again. I'll make sure they pay!" He said, his sadness quickly turning into anger. However, in the midst of this chaos happening within Scaramouches mind, you uttered two words that brought the harbinger back to his senses.

"Thank you." you said as tears begun to blur your vision and stream down your face. Scaramouche was quick to notice. Words could not describe how you felt, but holding tightly onto Scaramouche, the comfort of his presence was enough.

"...thank you" you mumbled before slowly becoming a sobbing mess.

Tears soaked his shoulder and you weren't even sure why you were crying. Scaramouche was worried yet let you sobb in his shoulder as he laid his head on yours.

The simple words, I'll save you, broke you down.

Even if it was a hopeless promise, some part of you wished to believe it.

Maybe there was some way to save you?

There was.

There was...

"When I get better, I'll become your bride. We'll leave Inazuma and let's travel the world together!" You said, mustering up a smile despite your voice was shaken. But, as your eyes beamed with the little faith you had left, the tension within Scaramouche's body loosened and so too did his grip.

Imagining a future with you, where he could always be by your side, where he'd always see your smile, Scaramouche grinned "That wouldn't so bad" he murmur, chuckling a bit.

Until dawn, until Ayaka arrived— you both held each other as if the world was going end soon. Holding Scaramouche close by, you watched as he slowly dozed off, looking like nothing more then a normal boy as he rest peacefully in the warmth of your arms. Eventually falling asleep soon after, you both laid quietly on the soft grass underneath the starry star, holding each other with nothing more needed then one others company.

However, drifting into to your dreams, you forget all your troubles and fall into a deep slumber.
