Chapter 4: 𝓛𝓮𝓽'𝓼 𝓟𝓵𝓪𝔂 20 𝓠𝓾𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:36pmHey, again. Are you off from work?
Gracie:
Sent 4:37pmAs a matter of fact, I just stepped through the door. What's up?
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:37pmLet's play 20 questions.
Gracie:
Sent 4:38pmOkay, fine. You go first.
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:38pmWhat's your favorite color?
Gracie:
Sent 4:39pmWow. That's a basic question.
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:39pmAnswer it.
Please?Gracie:
Sent 4:40pmFine.
Purple.
What about you?Cory Walker:
Sent 4:40pmBlue.
Favorite flower?Gracie:
Sent 4:41pmWhy do you want to know that one?
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:41pmWhat if I want to sweep you off your feet with flowers? How do I know which kind to get you?
Gracie:
Sent 4:42pmWow. Confident much?
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:42pm🤷♂️
You never know ;)Despite the blush creeping up her cheeks and ears, she couldn't let him charm her. She still didn't know if he was a serial killer or not. She shook her head and continued typing.
Gracie:
Sent 4:43pmDoubt it, but whatever. Red roses.
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:43pmDoubt it? How do you know this blossoming friendship won't turn into something more?
Gracie:
Sent 4:44pmCuz that kind of stuff only happens in Wattpad books. Someone texting or calling the wrong number, they fall in love, meet in person, confess their undying love for each other, happily ever after, the end. Too cliché. Even for me.
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:45pmUhhh...
What?Gracie:
Sent 4:45Wattpad is an app I write and read books on.
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:46pmYou write?
That's interesting.
What kind of stuff do you write about?Once again, a deep crimson color filled in Gracie's cheeks. She'd always felt embarrassed that she wrote stories in general. Let alone, love stories. Sure, she added some trauma to her characters' backgrounds to make it more interesting, but still.
Writing had been a personal hobby to her for eight years. Hell, she didn't allow her own family to read her work. Deciding to keep this a secret, her thumbs hovered over her phone's keyboard.
Gracie:
Sent 4:47pmLet's change the subject, shall we?
My turn.
What are YOUR hobbies?Cory Walker:
Sent 4:47pmI play football. I'm the Quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.
Gracie:
Sent 4:48pmYou play for Arizona? How old are you?
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:48Not so fast. It's my turn.
However, you DO pose a good question.
How old are YOU?
And no, I'm not asking for my boss who works in a sex trafficking ring or anything of the sorts.Gracie:
Sent 4:49pmLet's keep that private.
Cory Walker:
Sent 4:49pmOh so you can ask me, but I can't ask you?
Wow.
The disrespect.Gracie:
Sent 4:50pmGotta go. Bye!
