Kai sat in the backseat of his fathers police car. He wanted to sit in front but Bella beat him in a game of rock, paper and scissors, so he was stuck in the back.
Instead of listening to their awkward conversation, Kai put in his earphones and watched the green scenery pass by.

When they pulled up to the all too familiar house, Kai helped his father grab the bags and head inside.

"Bella you're on the left, Kai you're on the right" he said showing each of them their rooms

Kai walked into his room. He looked around and it all basically looked the same the only difference was that the small bed was replaces with a regular sized double. He walked closer to the wall which contained the photographs he took as a child. All the pictures of trees, cars and of his father fishing. He smiled at the memories.

One specific one caught his eye, it was brighter then the others indicating the sun was out. They were at the beach down at La Push. His father held- surprising in Forks, an ice-cream, the white from the ice-cream was smudged in his moustache.
Kai was just seven when he took that photo, it was the beginning of his love for photography, he remembers the day like it was yesterday. His fathers friend Billy Black invited them down to the beach as he said it was going to be sunny, it was, but later on that day is stormed, they had to run to get to their cars before they got washed away ,as it was raining cats and dogs.

A loud beep from a hooter snapped him out of thought, he peered out the window to see Billy Black and his son Jacob.
Kai huffed a laugh, it was as if Billy had known he was thinking of him and showed up.

Kai made his way downstairs. He walked outside and smiled at the man in the wheelchair.

"There he is!" Billy cheered "Kai, how you been ,kid?"

"Good, good" he rubs the back of his neck "How 'bout you, Billy?"

Billy smiled and chuckled "I'm still dancing"

"How's everyone down at La Push?" he asks

"Good, they miss you" Kai smiled thinking of his old friends and then noticed the truck
"Your truck?" he asks Billy

"Not anymore, sold it to your old man" Billy pointed at Charlie "For you and Bella"

Kai nodded and looked at the old rusted truck wondering how the thing still ran. He moved towards it and ran his hand over the truck. He looked threw the window to see his sister talking to Jacob. It seemed her was showing her how the truck worked.
Bella noticed her brother and waved at him which he returned. Jacob noticed Bella's action and looked out the window and smiled widely at his old best friend.

Jacob jumps out the car and pulls Kai into a hug which made the boy laugh

"Missed you too" Kai said laughing "Man, you've gotten big, what are you on man" he shake his head "And can i have some?" he whispered jokingly

Jacob laughed "Sure, but i do charge"

"Do i at least get a discount?" he asked

Jacob pretend to think about it for a second "No, sorry" he pats Kai's shoulder as to fake an apology

"Then i guess i gotta say no to the drugs" he playfully glares at Jacob who playfully glares back, the two hold each other's gaze before breaking out into a fit of laughter

"It really is good to see you" Jacob smiles at him

"Yeah" he agrees

Billy and Jacob had to leave soon after.
They bid their goodbyes and were off back to the other side of town.

Bella quickly whipped up something for them to eat and they sat eating dinner in silence. Awkward silence. Which to be honest wasn't really new to any of the three since both of the children got their awkwardness from their father.

Once it was late and he was tired enough, Kai set off to bed. He laid on his bed staring mindlessly at the ceiling.
His heavy eyelids finally won and sleep overtook, sending him to a place of peace and imagination.
