Rival Pt.1

I sit at the meeting table, along with company employees, listening to my mom talk about the company.

She's the ceo and I work there on my free time.

Everyone takes such pride about working at my moms company but I just work there to get out of the house.

My mom talks and talks for what seems like forever.

"Y/n, what's your in put?" My moms voice catches my attention

"Um..." I spit out nonsense since I wasn't really paying attention

After my nonsense my mom makes an announcement which shocks all of us.

"So as you know (high end business company) has invited us to their party tonight. I was made aware that our rival company will also be attending the party. And they too will be making a speech at the event. So Y/n since you're going to make the speech for our company,  I'm going to need your speech to be amazing and different." My mom pressures

"Got it." I say

"Alright meeting dismissed." My mom quickly adds

-At Event-

My mom, sisters and I arrive to the event quite early.

We take pictures on the red carpet before heading inside the venue.

As soon as I walk through the doors I see my best friend Chan standing next to his dad who is talking with someone else.

Chan notices me, we quickly wave to each other then excuse ourselves from our family.

We meet each other half way and walk to a table.

"Wow Chan you look so nice!" I exclaim

"Thank you thank you." Chan says with a smirk on his face and fixing his jacket

We laugh then talk about school.

"Have you done the semester project?" Chan asks

I sulk at the topic of school "No, I'll probably do it last minute though." I reply

Chan sighs and shakes his head at my reply "Y/n when will you learn your lesson of starting assignments when they're due so soon?"

"Hey hey, at least I get it done."

Chan shakes his head but then is taken away by his dad.

I stand at the high top table, watching everyone until a unfamiliar voice speaks to me.

"Hello" The voice says behind me

For a second I ignore it thinking the person could be talking to another person.

However, since I didn't hear a response, I look back and see the owner of the voice staring at me.

"Oh sorry were you talking to me?" I question

"Yeah" The guy laughs

"Sorry, I thought you were talking to someone else." I slightly laugh

"No worries, so what are you doing here at this event?" The boy questions

"I'm representing my moms company and I'll be giving a speech." I simply say

"Oh nice, is the company Solar V (<-the company name)?"

"Yeah"

"Hmm you're not that social as social media says" The boy says

I'm not that talkative with people I've barely just met. Therefore I was being quite bland.

I furrow my eyebrows at his statement "You've done your research on me?"

"Maybe" the boy laughs but stops to add "not in a weird way though."

"Please welcome Solar Vs speaker to the stage." Is heard throughout the venue

"Excuse me." I say to the boy and hurry on stage

Weird, they didn't even give me a heads up about going on stage. I had to practice mentally to make sure I wasn't going to mess up.

I get up on stage and look out to the crowd.

"Hello, my name is Kwon Y/n. I represent Solar V..." I continue the speech

-After speech-

I walk back to the table and surprisingly the boy was gone.

Instead Chan was there, smiling brightly.

"You did so good!" Chan says

"Thanks but I was so nervous, they didn't give me time to rehearse my speech." I smile

"It wasn't noticeable, but anyways I heard Solar Vs rival company will also be making a speech."

"Yeah, I was informed about it yesterday. I wonder who the speaker will be."

As soon as I finish my sentence the rival company speaker was called to the stage.

As I turn my attention back to the stage I see the boy who was talking to me early was there.

"Good evening everyone, I'm Boo Seungkwan and I represent Pled ES."

"He works for them?" I question myself

The boy who goes by the name Seungkwan continues his speech.

Once his speech is over he walks off stage and locks eyes with me.

He walks confidently towards me and Chan.

"Did you like my speech?" The boy questions me

"Yeah, I really liked it." Chan cuts in

"Yeah." I reply

"Sorry, I didn't formally introduce myself, I'm Boo Seungkwan and I'm the representative for Pled ES." Seungkwan holds out his hand for me to shake

"I'm Kwon Y/n, nice to meet you." I say while shaking his hand

"I'm Lee Dino, my dad owns MVJ." Chan cuts in again

"Right nice to meet you too, Dino." Seungkwan laughs and shakes Chans hand

"So um y/n, do you maybe want to hang out sometime?" Seungkwan shyly asks

That took me aback because I've just met this dude. Plus he's my company's rival.

"Like a date?" Chan questions

"Yeah." Seungkwan nods and looks at me for my response

"No." I simply say
