Chapter 23 - Past

After spending a long time with Ranasa, Dadisa went to sleep. The next morning when Dadisa woke up, she got many guests in her chamber for morning greet, which includes Ranisa, Meenavathi and Saudamini as well. To say, Meenavathi was shocked would be an understatement as she saw Ranisa bowed and afraid of someone.

Dadisa can see that Meenavathi is similar to Ranisa in her hunger for power but added to that she is cunning and untrustworthy even for her own family. Dadisa dismissed Meenavathi and Saudamini but didn't ask Ranisa to leave. So two of them left from there and only Ranisa was left with Dadisa. Dadisa said, "Seems like you are still as selfish as you were before."

Ranisa became nervous and didn't know what to say. Moreover she doesn't want her mother-in-law to mess up with her plans. Dadisa continued, "I know what you are planning with Saudamini. What amuses me is that even after getting your karma, you didn't try to rectify your mistakes". 

When Ranisa still didn't speak, Dadisa said, "It's just because of my husband's drunken promise to your father that my son had to marry you as his first queen, leaving the woman who captured his heart. And when I tried to make him marry again with Her, you made use of the blank promise my son gave you on the news of your pregnancy, to remain as his sole wife. Even if it was heartbreaking for him, my son did kept his promise as a true Rajput. Now your karma has returned in the form of your Bahuranisa. You have chosen one for your son but your husband had promised someone else. And now you are planning to get your son married again with the girl of your choice, not to forget when your grandchildren will be born in a few days time. Once again Fate has played a good game, your son is not interested in anyone else than his wife".

Dadisa chuckled and said, "Let's see what happens after my great grandchildren are born. After all, a child will make their parents' love stronger and here in this case there are two children". After hearing Dadisa's taunts about the past and her insinuation about the future, Ranisa was quite scared about her plans. And as long as Dadisa is here, Ranisa cannot even take a single step in the direction of her plans because her mother-in-law had once been a Queen and her eyes will see beyond what it is shown.

After Dadisa dismissed her, Ranisa came to her chamber absentmindedly without even seeing the two persons coming on her path. Meenavathi realized that now she can't rely on Ranisa as she seems to be powerless before the Rajmatha(the old Queen or Mother of the King), so she said to Saudamini, "Now we have to take a shortcut even if it is cheap". Saudamini was only afraid of this, she doesn't want to marry yuvraj in a cunning way rather she wanted a wedding with his consent even if it is namesake. When she tried to tell the same to her mother, Meenavathi shut her up angrily by saying, "It doesn't matter how it happens but once you are married, he will learn to love you as well. Just satisfy him whenever he wants and  give him lots of sons. That's it". In real, Meenavathi doesn't care about whether yuvraj will love her daughter or not. All she wants is the power that comes with the alliance especially the secret tunnels and paths, so that she can prepare for the attack if necessary.

While these two were planning on trapping yuvraj, Ranisa was still thinking on Dadisa's words. It is true that children will make their parent's love more stronger. In her own life also, it's the respect Ranasa has for her as Pratap's mother that makes their lives easy and moving. Otherwise after him being not able to marry his love because of her, Ranasa would have abandoned her. Ranisa was simply dwelling in her thoughts throughout the day.

In Anamika's chamber, Pratap was forcing Anamika to have a slow walk with him in the garden while she doesn't even want to move. Nowadays even the food is cooked entirely by Pratap as Anamika couldn't move around much. Finally Anamika accepted her defeat and went with Pratap for a walk, which took all of her physical energy. Once they reached the room, Pratap made her sit comfortably.

"Anamika, I have tried to find out the maid and finally got her through our maids who saw her that day. And our suspicion was right, it was Meenavathi who asked her to call you out", Pratap told Anamika who nodded at him, after all she was the one who lead him to her. "I think we should atleast start a trial right away with this minimum evidence, so that we avoid any danger", Pratap put forth his idea.

Anamika knew that he is actually right but meenavathi should remain out so that all her hidden deeds and agenda come in front of all. So she persuaded him by saying, "No Pratap. I think her intentions are not just harming the Royal family for some kind of revenge. There is even bigger agenda. To know that, we need to catch her red handed or make her confess her crimes". Pratap nodded at her but he thought to protect her even more carefully now.

To change his attention and mood, Anamika asked, "Have you decided the name for our daughter or daughters? Because I have already decided the name for our son or sons. Yeah, we have together decided one name for him but still it's ok". Rightfully, Pratap's attention was diverted and he said enthusiastically, "Yes I have shortlisted two names but if we have one daughter, which one should I name her? That I am yet to decide".

Anamika nagged him to tell her the names but Pratap said that he will keep it a suspense till the child is born. Anamika simply pouted and accepted it.
