chapter ten

The next morning Amy was woken up by the sound of Blaise, Enzo and Theo talking.

They probably didn't get much sleep as they were on the floor. She also couldn't help but notice that Mattheo was not with them and had slept next to Iris's bed and the two were in a deep sleep facing each other as though they had just been in conversation.

After they all got ready, they headed down to the Great Hall for some much needed breakfast

"Don't the other schools arrive soon?" asked Enzo as he was buttering some toast

"Yeah" said Blaise as though he was in a trance "just think of all of the new girls"

they all just rolled their eyes at the boys very predictable answer

"Just think of all of the new boys" Iris said elbowing Amy

Amy just looked at her and smiled. She didn't really care for a relationship at the moment

"Yeah right" said the incredibly frustrating voice of Pansy Parkinson who was sitting a few seats away from them with a nasty smile on her face

They all turned to her really not in the mood for her shit

"As if any of them would go near a half-blood like you" she said obnoxiously laughing with her very small friend group

Pansy had always been jealous of Iris' looks and the attention she got from boys. So because of this she resorted to using the only thing she thought she had above her which was her blood status.

Iris just looked the other way really not bothering giving into her

Amy however, spoke up "Hey Parkinson, are you actually doing something with your pathetic life or still chasing after Malfoy who is clearly not interested in you" she said not breaking eye contact

Pansy just scoffed and turned away and carried on talking to her friends

Amy and Iris looked to each other and started laughing quietly.

They arrived at their Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and got straight to their seats, eager to see what this lesson could possibly bring.

"So - I showed you all the Unforgivable Curses in our last lesson. But now I am going to show you how to defend yourself from it" Moody said at the front of the class scanning round at every students face

"And today you will be trying to resist the Imperius Curse" he said

"But - but you said it's illegal, Professor," said Hermione Granger, as Moody cleared away the desks with a sweep of his wand, leaving a large clear space in the middle of the room. "You said - to use it against another human was -"

"Dumbledore wants you taught what it feels like" said Moody, his magical eye swivelling onto Hermione and fixing her with an eerie, unblinking stare. "If you'd rather learn the hard way - when someone's putting it on you so they can control you completely - fine by me. You're excused. Off you go."

He pointed one gnarled finger towards the door.
Amy looked to all of her friends and none of them looked like they were leaving anytime soon.

Moody began to beckon students forwards in register order and put the Imperius Curse upon them.

Enzo was the first one to go out of the group.
He unfortunately failed to deny the curse and ended up imitating a squirrel.

With Amy's last name beginning with a G she was up soon.
