CHAPTER THREE

BRYLE'S POV

A peaceful atmosphere surrounded me as the sun rose in the sky. The sunlight reflected on the blue sea. I am currently holding my phone and am wearing my earphones, enjoying the sound trip I'm currently having when finally, I have decided to go back to my grandparents' house.

They went out early to have a walk and even when I told them that I'll join them, they did not let me.

So stuck in the kitchen, cooking their typical breakfast, I heard faint conversations coming from the living area. They're home. Finally.

I washed and dried my hands and then left the kitchen. A smile was plastered on my face when I gave my grandpa a hug and took the plastic bags that he was holding. But I quickly lost my happy face when I saw someone standing and talking with my grandma.

"Nako, iha. I heard my grandma say.

I blinked numerous times. Did I just hear it, right? Was it really her voice? Since when did that become soft and sweet?

I swear I could not believe my eyes.

"Oh, apo! Bryle! Aba'y kausapin mo muna itong bisita at ako'y magpapalit muna ng damit at naaasiwa na ako."

Without letting me say something, Lola began walking toward their bedroom. So it was just me and Randle in the living area with an awkward air enveloping us.

I forced myself to look at her again, but my forehead ended up creasing when I saw her emotionless face. "Were you just acting in front of my grandparents?"

She tilted her head to the side, her emotionless eyes bored into mine. "No."

"Then why did you look so kind and sweet a while ago to my grandma, and then emotionless now?"

"Because she's kind and sweet, and I don't feel like being like that in front of just you," she nonchalantly replied.

Ilang segundo ko siyang tinitigan, like I was trying to solve a complicated puzzle, which was named Randle. I then gave up and sighed. "So breakfast?"

Isang beses siyang tumango. "The kind lady invited me, and I think I didn't have a choice."

I couldn't stop myself from flatly looking at her. "You accepted her invitation and rejected mine?"

"As I said, I didn't have a choice, but with you, I do have a choice and that's not to accept it." So different from a while ago.

But why am I even thinking about that? I shouldn't. Napailing na lang ako saka siya tinalikuran. "Come on, let's go."

I tried stopping myself. I really did, but halfway to the dining area, I lost the simple battle.
