Years after they're first meeting in high school, Sugawara finds himself being dragged into a bar to see a familiar face.
Maybe he hasn't gotten over his high school girlfriend as well as he thought.

❝You're pretty quick to assume I'm sleeping with someone❞

[y/n] felt a low growl in her stomach. Her eyes forced themselves open, revealing barely anything in the practically pitch back room. She felt the warmth of Sugawara's bare chest beneath her and the calming sound of his relaxed heart beat. He was fast asleep.
She slipped out from under the bedsheets and let her feet touch the cold ground. She found Sugawara's sweatshirt discarded on the ground and slipped it on while cringing at every creak the floorboards made as she tiptoed towards the door. [y/n] prayed Sugawara was as heavy a sleeper just as he had been back when he was eighteen.
The light hurt her eyes once she stepped out into the hallway. Besides the faint buzzing of them working, the hallway was completely silent. The long line of doors made the hall look much longer than it actually was and [y/n] had to remind herself that this was real life and not one of those horror films with long endless hallways and a killer lurking within them. The vending machine was only outside in the stairwell. These horror movie killers can wait until she's ate.
Her hand lazily reached for the door handle and pushed it open. She didn't take in much of her surroundings before going straight for the vending machine. "You're up late," a voice observed. [y/n] felt her heart jump to her throat. "Jesus!" She winced at the sound of his voice as she whipped her hand around to face him with a hand on her heart. "You can't do that Masahi, hiding in the corner of room is gonna give someone a heart attack!" Masahi shrugged. "I was hungry, looks like you are too," he said, looking down at the coins within [y/n]'s hand, ready to be put into the machine slot.
"Busy night?" His tone felt snarky and condescending. He had obviously noticed she was wearing someone else's sweatshirt. "Don't be a dick," [y/n] grumbled as she listened to the coins fall into the machine and pressed a few buttons. They each made a faint beeping noise once pressed. "I just don't think this is a good idea, [y/n]" he replied. [y/n] kept her eyes on the machine as it began to work. "You just meet the guy again and now you're sleepingwithhim? It seems way too fast." "You're pretty quick to assume I'm sleeping with someone," [y/n] grumbled, her eyes still trained on the machine. "You're wearing his sweatshirt," Masahi replied, quickly. [y/n] sighed, giving him a look of pure annoyance. "And how do you know it's Sugawara I'm sleeping with, anyways?" She snapped back. Her tongue clicked as she turned back to face the machine, only to notice the bag has gotten stuck. "It's not like you're the type of girl to bring random, mysterious guys back to your hotel room. I know you, [y/n]," Masahi answered, he sounded very stressed for someone who was not affected by [y/n] actions in any way. His hand hit against the vending machine, letting the bag fall to the bottom for her.
"I'm just looking out for you, I don't want you to get hurt again," he spoke. [y/n] sighed again, now holding the bag of chips within her hands. He really emphasised that again part. "I'm fine, I can make my own decisions, you know," she said, bluntly, playing with the corner of the packaging. Masahi sighed. "I know, but they're usually not the best decisions," he spoke again. [y/n]'s nose crinkled up.
"Just don't be stupid about this okay? I'll see you in the morning," and he began to walk away before [y/n] could make an argument out of anything he had said. She narrowed her eyes at him as he walked away.
Her back lent against the the wall beside the door. Masahi was always over protective. Maybe that was half the reason she couldn't be with the guy. He felt too suffocating. He had a bad habit of making things out to be something worse than it actually was but he did have a point, kind of like her. It wasn't like Sugawara and her had any conversation about getting back together and it's not like [y/n] would be in the country for very long anyways.
Either way, she wasn't letting a bad case of miscommunication get in the was of the two of them again. This conversation wouldn't be fun but it was definitely necessary.
