The only things keeping me alive right now: "Bauer sucht Frau" and the song "superswag pt. 1". Oh, and Jae.
(yes, i am a melodramatic person if you haven't noticed yet)

The sweat dripped down Jaemin's hair and he could swear he looked like a hot mess right now. His muscles ached, but they did so in that great way when you know you've just achieved something. The dance had been coming together for Jaemin easily. Though his body felt like he'd been run over by a truck, his mood was great. How couldn't it be. Everything was going according to plan. Idol life had never seemed more appealing, the next performance might not be for a few weeks but Jaemin felt like his work paid off and he still had some free time nowadays. Fame really changed the company's way of treating you. Not that he'd complain.

With a final stretch, Jaemin picked his wobbly limbs off the ground. Driving after such an intense practice would be crappy, but the right music would probably keep him happy for these 15 minutes of sweaty thighs gliding around on the leather seats of the company's van. Luckily, Jaemin had actually obtained his license so nowadays, he was able to move around a little more freely. Not like the company didn't still know his every move, but at least he moved himself and not by somebody else's hand.

Actually entering the car was a little different than Jaemin initially thought it would be. For one, it wasn't one of the cars on the smaller side that he usually got to drive. There was actually a van since the staff at the front desk explained they didn't have any other cars available. Jaemin couldn't quite understand why he had to drive one of those huge motherfuckers now, but whatever. As long as he could get home.

Another glance at his phone revealed a missed phone call. Jeno. Jaemin smiled a little. His best friend could never help but worry about Jaemin, no matter the situation. Although Jeno didn't answer the phone when Jaemin tried to call him back, Jaemin still left his phone in the little place where you were able to not let the phone out of your sight.

A few minutes later and Jaemin was on the streets, actually waiting at a red light. A new message popped up. When Jaemin saw it was Jeno, he smiled. There he was.

A quick glance showed the still red traffic light, motivating Jaemin to unlock his phone, fully intending on texting back. He never got to.

The car lurched forward out of nowhere, the force causing Jaemin's forehead and face to collide with the steering wheel. When Jaemin realized that the car behind him had hit the van, it was too late. The impact of the accident had already pushed the van forward, now blocking the intersection when another car crashed sideways into him. The rest of it, Jaemin couldn't remember.

When Jaemin didn't text back, Jeno was a little upset. Not in a bad way. But Jaemin had seen the 'r u okay? coming back home soon?' and not replied.

It had been ten minutes of Jeno resolutely staring at his phone while waiting for the front door to open. He had prepared a little something for Jaemin as he'd had some free time. So why not bake something to relieve stress and mask it as an appreciation gift?

The ringing of Jeno's phone interrupted the train of thoughts. Nana the ID read. Fucking finally.

"Hey Nana, what's taking you so long? I'm waiting!" He cheered a little. Finally, cake. "I am sorry to inform you mister that I'm not Mr Na Jaemin."

Jeno's heart began pounding. This couldn't be happening, this shouldn't be happening.

No more than 30 minutes later and Jeno sat on the back seat while Taeyong had pulled him half onto his lap. Jeno didn't quite know who needed the consolation, him or Taeyong himself.

The leader had been the first person Jeno managed to call and tell about the events. Now, Jeno was pleasantly surprised that Taeyong had managed to sort out everything else - like telling the company that Na Jaemin had been in a car accident.

He was also glad that Jaemin had registered Jeno as his emergency contact and not any of the managers as soon as he'd turned 18. There would've been no way he would've been allowed to visit Jaemin at the hospital if he weren't the only one allowed to do it aside from Jaemin's parents.

The way to the hospital wasn't too long, Jeno's lost himself in the constant noise and flashes of light anyways so it doesn't feel like more than 5 minutes. It was kinda uncomfy to leave the car as Taeyong had clutched Jeno very tightly so his body just ached - not in a very bad way but also not in a good way. It was a nice reminder to keep in mind that this was indeed real though. Jaemin had been hit by a car and Jeno had been called and now Jeno was staring at the doors that led to Jaemin and -

"Jeno. Breathe. He'll be okay." The managers words managed to pull Jeno out of his head, the three of them making their way to the waiting room. Not like they had a private one. And not like Jeno hated children but right now, he'd give a lot to get rid of the annoying screams of a toddler in the middle of a temper tantrum.

It all felt unreal. Like- yes, it happened. But at the same time, this could just be a dream, could just be fiction. And Jeno and Jaemin would be back to dance practice in a few hours, arguing wether they should order takeout or walk to the small kiosk at the corner of a street nearby.

The minutes went by and Jeno couldn't help but grow antsy. Although Taeyong had been very unsettled in the beginning, the stress seemed to take its toll on the older, loud snores escaping his mouth.

Woah. That was kinda embarassing.

Jeno played with the thought of taking a video, but quickly remembered why they were here. So back to being sad and waiting.

When they were finally led to Jaemin's room, it was actually only Jeno that was legally allowed in there. He couldn't help but be a little glad. Having a manager witnessing whatever kind of state Jaemin was currently in didn't feel right. A few steps in and Jeno felt like he's been punched. Jaemin - Nana, his best friend since trainee days - looked like a corpse. There were bruises on his face, his eyes swollen, arms cut and a tube led to his nose as well as another one into the back of his hand.

"You look like shit, Nana," Jeno whispered. As if Jaemin could hear him.
