At the Itsuka Residence, the Itsuka siblings are having dinner in their sleeping attire. They are having Tonkatsu.
"Are you sure you can take it? I know the next Spirit is going to be tough, but try to take it easy. You literally went berserk a few days ago and it caused us a lot of problems," Kotori said as she looked at her brother, Shido Itsuka.
Shido hesitated to answer, as if he was hiding something.
"I can. I just want to make it up to you guys for all the trouble I caused, and I really thought I could handle her after dealing with Natsumi and Origami," Shido replied with a weak smile while grabbing his food.
"To be honest, she's too complex. I don't know what the best course of action is, either to keep pushing or to strike at the right time. It would be simple if it was the usual kind, but there's DEM. What would they gain from each other? There's also the fact that we can't easily monitor and track her. " Kotori added, holding on to a glass of water.
Shido listened as he chewed his food.
"Right now, the higher-ups are having a debate on how they will respond to her demands. The one side that is winning is to let her go, as it's expensive and risky, and it won't be much of a loss as we already have a large number of Spirits." Kotori continued in a somber tone.
"That's horrible. Treating life as if they are resources isn't Ratatoskr's goal to help Spirits peacefully," Shido said, with a mix of anger and sadness.
"It's true, but we can't save everybody. But don't get down in the dumps, it's not yet final," Kotori replied comfortingly to her anxious brother.
"I really can't tell who's worse now, either Kurumi or White Reaper." Shido sighed as he drank a glass of water. His comment made Kotori angry and bitter.
"Kurumi is definitely worse than her. At least White Reaper resisted, and her damage, while lethal, pales in comparison to the others. Don't forget the problems both Natsumi and Miku caused when we first encountered them. The part about Origami, she isn't our biggest threat," Kotori said with an annoyed look, making Shido uncomfortable.
The next day will be just a normal day for Shido Itsuka after trying to negotiate with the White Reaper and waiting for Ratatoskr's pending response.
After the two had finished, they said goodnight to each other and entered their bedrooms for slumber.
Shido dropped his body on his bed, tired and stressed from the day. He reflected on his past events as he was no ordinary boy. It was just a normal day until he found out he had the power to seal Spirits. It was reminiscent of those in fiction, most specifically superheroes and Shōnen manga, where an ordinary person gains superpowers and uses them for good.
He has the abilities and the support of a top-secret organization. Many people, especially at his age, would love that kind of life as an escape from the monotony and pain of a meaningless life.
