Accelerator's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized the mysterious device before him. "What the fuck does this do?" he muttered to himself, his mind racing with thoughts and theories. The notes from his previous encounter with Amata resurfaced, making him ponder the potential capabilities of the machine. Amata's taunting words echoed in his mind: "Let's just say if I create an artificial one and direct it to a certain universe where a certain city is located, where a certain little girl resides, it would be a shame if that were to happen."
The implications sent a chill down Accelerator's spine. He knew better than to underestimate Amata's ambitions, and the destructive potential of the machine was all too apparent.
"Academy City does have the technological capability to harness 11-dimensional spatial calculations, but that takes a lot of resources and manpower. For that bastard to get it to work, he would need the full support of the government. It's like trying to make a makeshift nuclear bomb in a garage," Accelerator mused, attempting to draw a conclusion from the situation.
As he continued to analyze the machine, his focus was interrupted by the arrival of Shido Itsuka, who appeared disheveled and covered in debris, as if he had emerged from a dumpsite.
"That was overkill. I don't think going all out was necessary," Shido attempted to strike up a conversation and break the tension, but Accelerator's mind remained fully engrossed in the task at hand.
"I could smash this machine, but that would lead to unintended consequences, and it might be what that bastard wants," Accelerator's thoughts raced as he contemplated his next move.
Despite his concentration, Shido persisted in making small talk. "You know, me and my friends thought you were a girl, despite some hints of you being a boy. Man, that must have been awkward for both of us," Shido commented, seemingly oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
Accelerator's patience wore thin, and he snapped back, "I didn't correct you because I thought it was obvious, and you're just trying to make fun of me."
Shido, taken aback by the sudden outburst, wasn't sure how to react—relieved or scared at finally getting a reaction from Accelerator.
Attempting to regain control of the situation, Accelerator ordered, "Want to do something useful? Go outside and play guard. I need to focus."
Shido hurriedly complied, running outside as if his life depended on it, leaving Accelerator to concentrate on the mysterious device before him.
Determined to unravel its secrets and put an end to Amata's plans, the air was tense with the weight of impending danger.
Accelerator carefully observed the intricate components of the device, mentally noting each part's function and purpose:
The frame, constructed from aluminum, served as a gimbal and held the cables in place. Additionally, it featured built-in mechanisms to stabilize the explosive charges.
Speaking of the explosive charges, there were 14 cone-shaped modules distributed along the frame. These charges contained an unspecified amount of antimatter, suspended within an extremely powerful magnetic field. The arrangement of these modules indicated that they were shaped charges, cleverly designed to focus the explosion's power at the device's center.
The controller, a small black box at the device's base, played a crucial role. It connected to all the explosive charges and was responsible for synchronizing their detonations.
Accelerator took a step back, absorbing the information he had just gathered. "Basically, it's a dimensional bomb, but it's not active. It's not even turned on. Did that bastard forget something?" he questioned himself. However, he quickly realized the importance of staying cautious. Amata might deliberately wait until old age just to taunt and deceive him.
