Chapter 3

"I'm not going to let them get anyone else. They got Chester and they got Jared."

"Ry, are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Do you want to sit around and wait until they get someone else too? We're going to kill them for what they've done. They got that boy before too. They're killing us slowly," Ry growled.

"Whatever they are, they are wicked strong! They killed Jared with one punch. We can't fight them. We don't even know what we're up against."

"Yea well they weren't werewolves. They definitely weren't ghosts. What are the only other stories told about?"

"Vampires."

"Exactly. You don't think that they sell silver bullet guns in the market for fun do you? Wooden stakes and shit? We're going to kill those fuckers," Ry snarled, "and we're going to start with the one that took Chester's body from us."

"How do you even know what they looked like? It was dark!"

"Yea but I had the flashlight. I saw him. I know what he looks like. Not the one that followed us because I was too busy screaming but I saw the one that was near Chester. He'll be easy to see. He had blue in his hair."

"I can't believe I'm going to follow you into this," Scott sighed.

"Don't you want revenge?" Ry asked and Scott nodded slightly.

"I do. Fine. Let's do it."

Chester sat perched in the shadows of one of the trees closest to the edge of the woods. It wasn't the same woods he got caught in. It was the one on the other side of the town. He watched with his exceptionally accurate sight. He saw his girlfriend sitting alone on a bench. He wondered if she had mourned his death. He hoped she wasn't too upset. But he watched then as a young man sat down next to her and kissed her gently. She smiled at him and Chester saw that she was wearing a ring on her finger. Pain flared in his chest. She'd known this man for a long time. She'd never been his. Chester was the one who was all wrong. She had never fallen in love with him. He lowered his head. Now that he was finally gone, she could go and be with the other man. Rage consumed him and he slid down the tree. Evening was upon them and he slowly slunk into town, trying to keep himself from looking to suspicious.

"Yea. I heard, his body just vanished. Just like that other boy."

They were talking about him. He swallowed but his anger overpowered his fear. He saw Talinda. She was sitting there with that man. He hissed angrily as he walked closer. He pretended to be examining stuff at a nearby shop so he could hear their conversation.

"......glad he's gone though."

"Don't say that about him. He was a lovely man."

"More like kid. Honestly Talinda, you were going to marry a boy. Isn't he a year younger than you?"

"Two actually and it does not mean a thing."

"And he went off in the woods all the time with his creep friends."

"I could never love him Mark. Just let it go. The only thing I liked about him was that he made a lot of people jealous."

Chester's shoulders quivered in rage. They got up and started to walk. Talinda smiled at the man and then went into her house. Mark turned and walked towards the outer edge of the town. Chester snarled and followed him. When the time was right, no one was near, he pounced on Mark and bit deeply into his neck.

"You fuck. You fucking leave my girlfriend alone," Chester growled as he continued to drink the blood from the writhing man on the ground. He dragged his nails across Mark's face and kicked him angrily. He was dead. And then someone was hitting him hard in the side of the head.
