Part Three

The loss of Jackey sank in like a stone in the hearts of the duo.

It was so hard to believe. They had been together for a while.

They saw no reason to split up.

But at the very least, Aaron and Michael had each other.

Still, they had to push on but there was nothing out there but a sea of clean water.

Or so they thought.

"Look!" Aaron said, pointing to a dock in front of them. A dock with a ladder and next to it a sailboat called the S.S. Venus.

Michael saw it and they both swam towards it, climbed the ladder, and got on the dock. They were soaking wet. Aaron's hair got it the most. It was a stalk-covered dancing Fantasia mushroom covered all over in glistening beads of water. It looked beautiful. Aaron shook his head rapidly, causing bullets of water to fly everywhere.

Michael shielded his face and couldn't help but giggle.

They got on the sailboat and entered the cabin. There was a bed and cupboards full of canned and packaged foods. There was also a fridge full of fruits, juice boxes, and hot dogs, a stove with an oven, a sink, and cabinets with pots and pans.

"Hm," Michael said. "They've got pretty much everything for survival but nothing that seems edible. You hungry?"

"Well, I would've been all set if we hadn't been in the water," said Aaron, pulling his soggy sandwich out of his backpack. "What do you plan on making?"

"Probably some red beans and rice," said Michael. "We could also try some of this lobster bisque."

"Can you even cook?" Aaron asked.

"Of course," said Michael.

And Michael took a pot from the cabinet and put it on the stove.

Then, Aaron launched himself on the bed, content at last.

"Oh, what've we done to deserve this? First, Jones. Now, Jackey."

"I know," Michael muttered. "I can't believe it either. It's just us on this sailboat which will take us Heaven knows where."

"Yeah, but it won't turn on," Aaron said. "I don't know how to sail."

"That makes two of us," Michael said. "But we can't stay here forever."

Suddenly, they heard a rumble below the boat. It seemed to have turned on.

And then, the boat moved forward and left the dock.

"Well, whaddya know," said Michael, shrugging his shoulders.

Aaron chuckled.

"Do you have your phone?" asked Michael. "It must be soaking wet."
