"Okay, it's 9:30 now," said Itan

"Okay, it's 9:30 now," said Itan. "We already know that Latwis can smell the blood of people who owe debts to loan sharks. Which means in order for the plan to work..."

"Yeah," said Rhode. "I know. But I don't have anything to cut myself with or prick myself."

"Leave that to me," Itan said. "Give me your hand."

Rhode reluctantly did as he was told.

Itan held Rhode's index finger and turned his into a pen-reminiscent crystalline form.

Then, Itan placed his finger on Rhode's fingertip and the needle inside of Itan's finger pricked Rhode's finger.

"Ow!"

Itan let go of Rhode's finger and a bead of blood swelled on it and fell on the floor leaving a small red dot that couldn't be seen in the dark.

Itan closed up the hole in his finger where the blood-soaked needle was in and changed into his crystalline form. And Romun and Rhode saw Itan's form change into a crystalline version of Rhode and become flesh.

Rhode was speechless and at the same time, mortified at having his DNA used to emulate him.

It was awesome but frightening.

Itan even had his bloody finger.

"There," Itan said in Rhode's voice. "That should do it. You don't have to be the bait. I will be the bait."

And Itan walked towards the door to the roof but did not open it.

"I can feel the presence of the spirit here. It's hiding. It seems like...a child. Not at all malevolent or hostile. He got very sick and fell asleep one day. Next thing ya know, he woke up and saw his mother and father crying over him. That was how he knew he had died in his sleep. His family left the house...but he stayed."

"Can he tell us his name?" Rhode asked.

"Dennis," Romun uttered, wiping a tear from his eye. "Peterson."

Itan's head turned to Romun in shock.

Then, he shook his head.

"I know. I miss him, too."

Romun sniffled and tried his best to smile.

Itan triumphantly smiled back.

Then, he looked back at the door, turned the knob, and finally opened the door.

Something snatched at him by the neck and pulled him out of the door to the roof.

Itan didn't see the beast that took him. Only a yellow and green yo-yo with a bleeding heart symbol on it.

Two sharp red blades emerged from the yo-yo and the invisible assailant launched it at Itan.

Itan quickly took on his crystalline form and when the yo-yo struck him, it broke apart instead of phasing through him.
