"How do you know it was him?" Hope asks angry. "Ancient artifact goes missing along with too-good-to-be-true hapless human? You do the math, Hope," Alaric says. "That would make him a liar, okay? I've known my fair share of those, and there was nothing about him..." Hope says getting angrier. Grace and Faith exchange a look, "Hope..." Alaric says. "No, you don't understand. There's no way that the one time that I choose to get close to someone, they turn out to be a liar. It's not possible, okay? I'm not that stupid," Hope says starting to pace. "HOPE," Grace says loudly. "Landon is not Roman," she says gently. Hope sighs and nods her head. "When he walked out that door, we compelled him to go home," Alaric starts to explain, "So?" Faith asks wondering how this was going to help her cousin. "So he didn't. It's the first place we checked. And if he didn't go home, that means his memory wasn't erased. He was just pretending that it was. If his mind can't be controlled by a supernatural being, then that only means one thing," Alaric explains to the girls. "That he is a supernatural being," Faith and Grace mutter at the same time.
The room is stunned into silence realizing that he was supernatural. Grace rolls her eyes.
"For ten years we've gone undetected. Protecting you, protecting our secret has been our singular mission. Tonight I need your help to find Landon Kirby... before he exposes us all," Alaric tells the students in a meeting later that day. The students immediately start whispering indistinctly.
"Jo," MG says. "I'm not talking to you," Josie says beginning to walk away. "Hold on. I'm sorry. All right? I'm an ass. You-know-who, she puts those sеx herbs in her weed, and I had a... a momentary lapse of judgment," MG explains following Josie. "Why does everyone find her so special?" Josie asks turning to him wondering what was so special about her ex. "She's not special. She's just... available. Come here. Don't hate me, okay?" MG asks hugging Josie before MG walks away. There is laughter and indistinct chatter around Penelope and Josie snaps. She starts chanting sending forth flames to Penelope. She screams as her hair catches on fire.
Lizzie and Grace smirk at Josie's revenge.
"I need your help," Grace asks walking into the twins dorm. "With what?" Josie asks. "After what happened with Roman, and now this whole thing with Landon. Hope is spiraling," Grace explains. "I know how to track him, but it involves using a dark magic," Grace says. "Well, we're not allowed to use dark magic here, so..." Josie says. "Josie, I wouldn't come to you about this unless it was absolutely necessary," Grace says. Josie sighs and nods. Grace takes the mouse and snaps its neck. "Sorry," she whispers noticing Josie's expression. "Are you sure about this?" Josie asks. "Absolutely," Grace says confidently. "Inveniet hostium et tenebrae. Inveniet hostium et tenebrae. Inveniet hostium et tenebrae," the two chant. "Do you see anything?" Josie asks. "Just flashes. Come on, give me something," Grace mutters under her breath.
Kol and Davina sit forward intrigued by their daughter's spell.
"I got it. Route 29," Josie says. "Near the state line," Grace adds. "Is that the knife?" Josie asks. "Yeah," Grace replies. "What's it doing?" Josie asks as they watch the knife change. "I have no idea," Grace whispers. The spell breaks and Grace goes to leave. "Oh and by the way, this won't get back to you," Grace tells Josie. "Who will it get back to?" Josie asks. "I'm thinking a witch with a new haircut," Grace says with a smirk.
Caroline smiles at the dark haired girl who has now protected both of her daughters.
"Called in a favor with a buddy at State Patrol, asked him to lock down the scene till we got here. Local PD thinks it was a chemical spill," Sheriff Donovan says. "What's the actual story?" Alaric asks. "I'll leave that to you to figure out," Sheriff Donovan says to Donovan. "All right. Thanks, Sheriff," Alaric says.
"Matt you are the new Sheriff," Elena says with a smile. "And you are observant," Grace mutters. Hope and Faith give each other a look.
"Funny how life works. After years of pushing people away, I opened my heart to Landon Kirby, the human in the wrong place at the right time who just needed a place to belong. Turns out, Landon isn't the hero of my story at all," Hope says to her cousins in her dorm.
"See, Hayley. Our daughter will be perfectly..."
"But when I hunt him down, I'm gonna be the villain of his," Hope says.
"...fine."
