You grow up in underground city, where stealing and killing are necessary for survival. You work for the black government and must follow their orders for you to keep on living. You recently received their biggest and most difficult order,

Retreating means failure. You all return to Wall Rose having lost so much and having nothing to gain. The other scout’s deaths were in vain. They died for nothing. As you all returned, passing through the street and the residents inside gathered and you can hear their gossips about the scouts.
They look at the scouts with disgusts and even pitied them. It’s clear that they’re not supporting the regiment. You sigh deeply; they don’t know what it actually looks like beyond the walls. When they see how terrible it is outside, they might shit in their pants.
Riding on the wagon where Eren and Mikasa, you can’t help but to take glances on Levi. He was at the back following the wagon. You find yourself staring at him and left wondering why Mr. groovy hated him so much; after all, the fact that he is here outside the underground city and suffering, isn’t it enough punishment for his failure, for not accomplishing his mission before.
You remember suddenly about his previous team who died, you are certain how empty he felt inside of him; you know how it feels to be abandoned, to lose friends and family.
You can’t see it in him, but you can feel it, and you know exactly how he felt. He is unfazed by the possibility of dying. He was already empty that it doesn't scare him. Suddenly, his gaze landed on you. You flinch out in control and immediately look away, damn it!
You gulp dryly as you felt him approaching you and hear the horse’s hoofbeats, making your heart beat faster. He was about to confront you, “Levi!” but Hange called him. You catch a peek of him only to have him return your gaze. The beat of your heart double its speed.
You don’t know why you’re feeling this way when meeting his eyes. It’s feels unusual to you. After a short moment you felt relieved when his presence is gone. That was close… and you let out a sigh of relief. “Are you okay, Y/N?” You heard Mikasa and then you nodded in response to her even you are not. I’m not okay. “Yeah, I’m fine don’t worry,”
You hung your head and sat down in your chair because you were exhausted and restless. All of the medical personnel, including you, treated all the wounded scouts who survived the unsuccessful expedition once you returned from it.
As you copy what Leisel was doing, you are becoming accustomed to your job and are ultimately comfortable with it. Yeah, she’s fine.
Elias is going to give you your rewards. You grinned as you thought back on it. You didn’t do anything, yet you still were paid and had easy money. You stretched yourself up and yawned in exhaustion.
You may rest, but just for an hour, as there are many scouts who need medical attention and the survey corps has only few medics. You close your eyes as you thought finally having your decision and hope it is the right thing to do, I’ll wait until Levi accomplish his goal to reach the basement before carrying his mission.
Your breathing was heavy as your frail body fell to the ground. Your hazy gaze keep on staring on the people’s feet as they walk pass you by. You were in you early teenage year, and lack the skills necessary to live on your own. Your family died from illness leaving you alone, hungry, and thirsty.
“Get out of my way!” You groan in pain as your weak body rolls over to the ground and slams into the wall. The man continued to walk after kicking you and spat on you. You attempted to raise your head to face the man, but your heavy eyelid prevented you from doing so.
You regret living here in underground city, being born here feels like a punishment. You envy the people who wear fine clothes, and looking so healthy.
You close your eyes with nothing strength left on you. You’re miserable yet desperate to live, so you keep on breathing, you don’t want to die, you wanted to live.
You slowly open your eyes after sensing someone staring at you, slowly, you tried to sit up from lying and faces him. You manage to utter “I-I’m hungry…” despite your throat being dry.
He let out a long sigh before giving you the loaf of bread he was carrying. You eat it without any hesitation because you are so hungry. He only stares at you while you’re eating.
Even when you were choke on your bread, he gave you water. This guy is really nice. You look at his face in depth as you fixate on it. He looks about six years older than you, you guess, wearing a coat, and looking so healthy, you envy this guy.
“What’s your name?” he asked. You pause and face him up, you simply replied, “Y/N.” He nodded and smiled, “I’m Furlan, by the way, where’s your family?” He asked, you shook your head in response to him.
He took a sigh understanding your situation, even him don't know what will going to do with you. Instead of doing something he starts to walk once again, but before he could leave, you pulled his pants and force him to halt. He turns to face you, and has pitiful expression on his face. You’re in desperate to live and you’re taking this opportunity to move forward.
You walk behind him and not knowing where you two were heading. After awhile of walking you arrived somewhere you’re not familiar, where you could see a small house. You two entered, it was very quiet and empty. You tempted to inquire, but you decide against it.
Walking inside you keep glancing around, thinking what's with this empty house, then you two halted in front of the door, he knock single time before someone open the door from inside, as you walked in you were surprised to see several men inside the room with rifle in their grip. Their gaze fixated on you.
“Why the sudden visit my young friend?” The middle aged man asked Furlan, you remain silent as they exchange greetings. “Here, take this kid, she can be a useful if trained.” Furlan then said, this man stare at you with suspicious look. “Is she your little sister?”
Farlan turned around and began to walk away after saying, “I’m leaving for the mission, just take her in your custody.” You are now scared, you don’t want him to leave.
You don't know this people and it terrifies you so much. You run towards him and said, “Are you going to sell me? I’m coming with you.” You tried to beg, you can’t see yourself being in here. They might kill you firing the rifle to you.
You stare at the dagger in your palm, “I’m only leaving for a mission, I will return with my friends after we completed our mission, here take this, if you wanted to live you had to survive.”
It was a beautiful dagger. You lifted your head up to ask but he’s gone, and he had already left. You don’t know what his mission is but you thought asking once he came back, you wanted to meet his friends. You wanted to learn how to fight; you’re going to ask once he returned.
Days, weeks, months and even years have gone and he still hasn’t returned. You wonder where he went, you’re thinking if he left for good. You wanted to let him know how your training went, express you gratitude to him for helping you, and wanted to see him that you survive. Until now you’re still waiting for his return, he is your one and only savior.
