Chapter 14

In the morning everyone was woken up by Lizzie. She went to by room until she made it to our room. She threw the door open and jumped on our bed.

"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" She yelled.

Nate groaned. "Madeline. I don't remember having a kid."

"Me neither." I said sitting up. "Hey Little Liz."

"It's Christmas! Santa came!" She said.

"Oh! You might wanna wake up Nate a little more." I said.

As soon as she heard that she jumped on Nate.

"Oof. Alright. I'm up." He said getting up.

"We'll be down in a second Lizzie. Tell your mom you can start without us." I said.

"Ok!" She said as she ran out the door.

I sighed. "Alright. Get ready lover boy."

"Fine." He said standing up.

We got dressed and went downstairs to see Lizzie opening a big present. It was the roller skates she begged 'Santa' for.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey Maddie." Chrissy said. "Liz just unwrapped her skates."

"Ooo skates" I said. "Who got you those?"

"Santa!" She said.

I just looked at the ceiling and just accepted that she'd only think I was Santa.

"Uhm. If Lizzie is done I have a present for Maddie." Nate said.

I looked at him while he picked up a small box from under the tree.

"Here." He said smiling.

"Uhm. You know you didn't need to do that." I said.

"Well I wanted to." He said. "Open it."

I opened it and it was a ring with both of our birthstones. Amethyst and Sapphire. I was speechless.

"It's the ring I told you about." I whispered.

"Yeah. I figured you could wear that until a certain question comes up." He said.

I put it on and gave him a big hug. Then we went on with the gift giving. But all I was thinking was: what certain question? He couldn't possibly be talking about marriage, right? Of course I like him but he probably doesn't think the same. He could have easily seen Eliana and given me a reason to leave.
