Author's POV

A loud knock on his door broke his sleep. He grunted opening his eyes, not fully though. Roaming his eyes around the mess he has created last night, Arjun sighed rubbing his temple.

"Get out" his annoyed voice resonated in the whole room and was enough for the maid to leave.

"Fuck" he cursed as his foot hit the beer bottles which were spread on the floor.

Kicking the bottles, he got up and blinded the curtain. He met with an eerie darkness. But that didn't bother him at all, it never does.

He was staring at the mango tree which he himself has planted when he was getting this mansion built.

The yellow delicious mangoes were dangling from the stems. He is fond of mangoes, has always been. It's smell helps him to feel calm, he likes the sweetness of this particular fruit. But, this is not the reason why he himself planted the tree.

The giggling of the kids were annoying him. He just wanted to run away from here and never come again. The kids were playing and enjoying the rainy day.

He has no friends and it doesn't bother, but the fact that he has to live alone all his life.

An eight year old Arjun is afraid of leading a whole life all by himself. Without having anyone's back or without having anyone by his side. The thought itself makes him shudder.

He was drowned in his thoughts when his gaze caught a bunch of Mangoes. His eyes shone looking at the yellow colour. His mouth watered watching the woman devouring the delicious fruit.

He started taking slow steps towards her. Afraid yet determined to have them as she never let them taste any kind of seasonal fruits.

The kids here just eat basic meal everyday. That is Dal, Chawal and Roti (Cooked Pulse, Rice and Bread)...

"C-can I...ha-ave th-hem?" His voice was quivering but his eyes were fixed on those mangoes.

"No" the lady replied rudely and continued eating.

"But I want them" he almost shouted with teary eyes. He was angry. Angry at himself, angry at his parents who left him alone. Angry at this lady who never treated him like a human being.

"Shut up. Eat them when you start earning" her words were poisonous but left a deep impact on his innocent mind.

From that day, he decided to earn and earn for himself only. Because no one will give anything to him, only he can do that.

Arjun blinked away the tears and smirked remembering the lady's words. That day, those mangoes taught him a life lesson.

You will have to fight for the things you want. You will have to earn them. He was applying the same thing in Saanvi's case but he forgot one thing.

Saanvi is not a thing but a human being who has emotions and who is not salable whom he can purchase by throwing his money.

"Arjun, you have gone insane. Please consult a physiatrist" Advik gritted glaring at his friend who was sitting casually.

As if he didn't misbehave with his employee last night. As if he didn't scare her and her mother. As if nothing happened.

"Are you listening?" Advik shouted but got no response in return.

Arjun has told him everything he did last night. The shocking thing for Advik is that there was not even an ounce of guilt on his friend's face or in his words when he was narrating the incident.
