I let out a deep shaky sigh.

I managed to arrive late for dinner with the Montero's.

Mainly because I needed to fully process this.

Process it before I say something reckless to someone who I pray is innocent.

I adjust my soft orange button-up over my white long-sleeve shirt.

My hands smooth down my matching soft white pants before sliding on my thick glasses.

I exit the back of the Rolls Royce as my heart beats rapidly in my chest.

I run my shakey palm over my dark hair that's smoothed back into a low bun as I gather my emotions.

It's not what it looks like I'm sure of it.

I walk into the Montero's large cream estate as I follow the faint chatter echoing the walls.

He didn't do it, Selene.

Not over something so small.

"Selene! Glad to see you're joining us!" Andre's deep voice chirps as I walk quietly into the room.

I slide my thick glasses off of my puffy eyes as I sit next to my girlfriend whose dark eyes stare at me with concern.

I pray her brother didn't do what I think he did.

"How does it feel to finish filming?" Kamala asks lightly as her dark eyes lock with my heavy ones across from me.

I shrug silently.

I don't think I can form any words right now.

"Selene, why were you late?" My dad asks curiously.

My parents sit across from me as they seat closer to Aisha and Andre.

All I can think is—If Denali is who I think he is...

My parents are sitting in a room with their son's murderer.

Aisha tilts her head, "Wrapping up can be exhausting, remember those days Dre?" she tries to fill the silence as I stare around blankly.

My stomach drops when my dark orbs land on Denali who's sitting directly across from Devyn and me.

"Yes I actually don't miss those days," Andre confesses lightly as he takes a sip of his water.

Devyn places her warm hand softly on my thigh causing my anxious body to flinch.

"Mon amour is everything okay?" she asks softly with concern.

I feel my breathing grow shallow as I recall the letter my dead older brother never got to mail to me.

"Denali..." I trail off as I force my weak voice to appear strong.

The man's dark eyes meet mine.

"You didn't tell me that you knew Omari," I point out as my dark orbs analyze his blank face.

I grow unsettled when his once blank face drops slightly.

"I-well we were going for the same role," he tries to explain quietly.

The room grows eerily silent as I stare at Denali intensely.

"It happens a lot in the industry," Andre adds as I stare directly at his son.

Denali nods silently.

I shake my head as my eyes grow glossy.

No-no he's not lying to me right now.
