The panhandler fed me some sad story about needing money for a kid waiting at a bus stop. I told him I had no change, which was true. Then he asked if I had Venmo. I told him I was behind on the times. Then he asked about Paypal? Zelle? WhatsApp? Apple Pay? I told him sorry. I wasn't signed up for any of those. He let out a sigh and dropped his head before asking, "what about that weed you smoking?" Now that I could do, so I handed him the lit joint and watched him take a drag.
