The scientist didn't know why he built the doomsday device. All he knew was that he felt compelled to. Every night he went to bed and dreamt of a world-ending machine. It became so torturous that he had no choice but to make it a reality. For years he toiled with his trusty laboratory cat by his side until it was finally complete. The scientist never intended to put it to use. It wasn't until his cat pushed the on button that the scientist realized the feline had been whispering in his ear at night, driving him to build it.
