The kids were determined to win their game of tug of war, even if it killed them. They played for hours, neither side giving in or backing down. Their game continued through the cold rain, the mud, and the freezing night. It never stopped or let up. In fact, the only one who quit was the rope, which snapped right down the middle and left neither side victorious. Were they all winners? Or were they all losers? Nobody could tell. So they did what any rational person would do in that situation: they found a new rope and tried again.
