"Senna," I called in greeting as the bell on the door chimed my arrival. "Hiding from the rain today?"

"No, not quite," Senna said, stepping out of a side room. "Actually, I just had to go run errands out there."

Sure enough, she was just wringing out the ends of her tunic, and her bangs were plastered to her face, but there was a brilliant smile on her face all the same. I shouldn't have been surprised - she and Sayge always liked to dance together in the rain, and somewhere in my heart there lived a hopeless romantic that one day wanted to experience that sort of thing for myself with someone I loved.

Well, nothing to be done about it now. Instead, I set the basket of clothes on my hip and headed further into the shop after wiping my feet dry on the mat.

"I finished mending those clothes," I told Senna rather stupidly, for she would easily have been able to guess as much.

"Oh, good," she said, breezing over to me as though she wasn't actually currently waterlogged. After taking the basket from me with an air of ease I envied, she sent a smile my way. "Have any trouble with them?"

"No," I answered right away. "All pretty routine tears."

"That checks out," Senna said. "What I gave you, the farmers brought in. Sometimes, their clothes tear from long-term wear, accidental mishandlings of their tools, you get it. I've been experimenting with some new styles so I wanted to focus on that, so I really appreciate you volunteering to help out with those."

"It was no problem, really," I assured her. "I'm happy to help anytime."

"All hail our resident do-it-all woman," Senna said with a laugh as she turned on her heel and headed further into the shop. Onto a counter she placed the basket for now, and she noticed the blanket covering the topmost layer of clothes.

Ignoring her comment for now, I smiled sheepishly. "Sorry if they got wet. I wanted to make sure they got to you today, but..."

"Ah, it's fine," Senna said. "There's no controlling the weather, is there? It's no worry at all, sweetheart. I'll just hang them up in the back, and I'll dry that blanket for you, too."

"Thanks," I said genuinely. "Do you need anything else from me? I can help some more, if you need."

"In the way of help, I don't think so," she said, getting to work on something at the counter. "But if you can spare some conversation, that would be lovely."

"Sure," I said happily, approaching the counter. I sat on a stool near where she was working, and she smiled brilliantly at me. "Anything in mind?"

"You, my dear, need to stop asking what everyone else wants to say or do or need," Senna began, then shook her head. "Still, what are you getting up to today?"

"I don't really know, to be honest," I said, once more decidedly ignoring some of her words. "I'll be hanging around in town, though, not that I want to be cooped up inside anywhere."

"Fair enough," Senna considered. "Hearing the same people talk about the same things is exhausting a lot of the time."

"Yeah," I breathed out, stunned that someone so content to have a business here - when I knew they were more than well-enough off to move if they wished - could feel that way. "Yeah, that's exactly how I feel."

"So, it's raining, but you don't want to be cooped up inside," she said, "and you don't want to be among us boring folks all day. You must be here for something, then."

"That's right," I affirmed. "I want to know more about the stranger here in town."

"The traveler? I completely understand - he's so handsome!"
