Her scream brought chills through my body. It penetrated through my viens. She didn't hang up. Her phone is still facing the sky. I try calling her name  a couple times, with no response. I shoot up from my bed, I grab a hoodie and tug it over my body while running down the stairs. I slip on my shoes half way and run to the cars lined up in our driveway. I choose one of the fast ones and turn it on.
She said she was at the beach. I remember the day I put my number on her phone, I turned on her location. I pray she didn't turn it off.

Thankfully, as I'm driving away from my driveway, her icon pops up on the map, she's in one of the beaches near Beverly Hills. I speed through the traffic, still frantically calling her name on the phone, hoping her gorgeous face would appear, with her rosy cheeks and freckles, her green eyes bright as usual, her rosy pink lips forming a beautiful smile. But I get nothing, only the sky, which is starting to grow dark.

My worries keep on increasing as the sky turns blacker. My house isn't that far from hers. Around fifteen minutes. But today it seems like it's dragging on forever.
After what seems like eternity, I pull up to the beach. The first thing I notice are police cars. Then an ambulance. Then a rescue team. And all my hope is completely vanished. My eyes start tearing up-

Am I crying?

The fuck?!

I get out of the car, and search for a certain girl with the lightest shade of brown hair. Police officers litter the place, pushing me around.

'I'm obviously mistaken, but.. Lucas?' Suddenly, a sense of relief washes over me, and for the first time in thirty minutes, I breath in absolute and utter relief.

I slowly turn around, praying that she's real and not just a dream. But there she is, Sadie Grace Parker, in all her glory, wet from head to toe, a blanket over her tiny frame, her eyes glistening with tears.

'Thank god, thank god, thank god.' I mutter. I can't help myself, I run towards her and scoop her up in my arms. She smells like vanilla and lavender. I place my face in her hair and inhale deeply.

'What are you doing here?' She asks, her voice muffled.

'You screamed.' I replied simply. 'What the hell, Sadie? I thought something happened.'

A tear escapes from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. 'There was a couple, not to far from where I was sitting. They were on a date with candles-' She breaks into sobs and I hold her tight, muttering reassuring things in her ear.

'The blanket they were sitting on catches fire.' She continues. 'The girl, jumps up, but her foot catches in the blanket and she falls into it. I ran to help her boyfriend to detach her from it.'

She hold up her arms, revealing several burns. 'This is nothing compared to what the poor girl got.' She mumbles.

'Excuse me?' A man from behind us taps Sadie's shoulder. 'I never got to thank you, you saved my girl, and I will forever be grateful.'

My chest fills with pride at Sadie. She looks proud of herself too. 'Nonsense, it was nothing.'

After a bunch of thank you's and your welcomes, the beach clears out, and only Sadie and I were left. She runs to pack her stuff from the beach. Then changes her clothes in one of the bathrooms.

'We have to take a look at those burns.' I grab her hand in mine, and lead her towards my car. 'Your parents home?'

She shakes her head. 'No, business trip.'

I swerve the car and drive to the direction of my home.

'Lucas, wrong way.'

'You're coming to my house.'

She jumps from her seat, giving me a wide-eyed look. 'What! No!'

'Yes.'

'Lucas.'

'Princess?'

'Home.'

'No.'

'Ugh, fine, are your parents home?'

'Yep.'

'What? They can't see me looking like this!' She gestures her outfit.

I look at her sweatpants and a Harvard sweatshirt. 'What's wrong with it?'

'You. Are-'

'Irresistible?'

She gives me a glare, but doesn't disagree. I look at her, sitting a mere two feet from me. She looks so much better in person. A million calls will never come close to what she looks like in real life. Her hair is still slightly wet, so I turn down the fan so she doesn't get sick.

'Lucas?'

I give her a look to let her know I'm listening.

'Thank you for worrying about me.'

'It's my job, princess.'
