Dearest Josette,

Here's what you should know about me.

While music is your coping mechanism, suppression is my own.

Much of my life has been blocked out of my memory.

After I lost my parents and uncle, I lost myself.

I activated my vampire gene and shut off my humanity.

I don't remember much of that time, and I'm not sure if I want to...

I haven't talked to my remaining family since the day my humanity came back. Mostly because I hate that I disappointed them.

So, my friends have become family. I'd do anything for them. They accept me, despite all of my flaws and shortcomings.

I enlisted in the Marines to try and make up for everything I've done, all the mistakes I've made, and hopefully find some sense of purpose that I'd been struggling to find my entire life.

And I know you don't agree with it all, the war and the bloodshed, and I can understand that.
But for the people who can't fight for themselves, I owe it to them, and to myself, to use whatever power I have left to help them.

Yours truly, Hope
