The New Kid

Halls of children chattering,

some may call this flattering.

Eyes filled with fright;

it's time to take flight.

People are saying- "Oh, you're new here?"

You are caught in headlights like a deer.

People cheering, people tearing, people teasing you like it's their last life- oh, such angry jife.

People are screaming "fight, fight, fight!"

Oh, if only someone would turn on the light.

You're no longer scared of humiliation.

Bullies; they're all around you,

guess you didn't think this through.

You didn't think it would be this way;

it is no longer your day.

As the first fist flies your way, you are told to pay.

So now, here you lay.

The teachers are at bay;

kids are scurrying,

just like the snow outside is flurrying.

They are asking your name,

but you hear no one say.

Your head is pounding,

talk is getting louder,

blood rushes through your veins,

you stand up and you're okay;

this is the start of a brand new day.
