34 | The Nature's Wish

Hergest's scream stopped after a minute. The summoned witches who came before us, vanished as we were finally defeated and prevented the evil witch from completely wreaking havoc upon the earth. We prevented her from initiating her plans. And that made my mind and heart levitate in peace.

But, on the other side of that emotion, sadness was slowly devouring me. Despite us sending Hergest to a place where she is supposed to be, I couldn't resist myself from feeling sad. I know, and I am aware that every war, there are always casualties. And there are always gonna say goodbye to the land of living.

I sighed. The sound of rooster slightly far away from here suddenly rang in my ear. Behind at the trees few inches away from where I am standing, the yellow rays of the sunrise imitate the sky. Bumalik na rin sa dati ang kulay ng paligid.

Dahil kasabay na naglaho ito sa mga summoned witches, at maging pag-banish namin sa kaluluwa ni Hergest sa katawan ni Meira. Seconds later, Meira woke up. Sinalubong kaagad siya ng mga Valenzuela witches. With grievous stares that made her crawl backwards.

But she stopped when the Valenzuela witches made physical contact with her. "Bind Durano's hands, tie their tongue, eternally permit their mind to spell-cast none!" They together cast an incantation for the Duranos.

I didn't disagree. The Durano deserved that consequence. That's what they get for summoning the evil witch's soul and permit Hergest to use them as their vessel. Nature will always find a way to find its balance.

"No!"

"Vos omnes ministry odey et destructiones et seratore discorde." the Valenzuela witches muttered an arcane words I couldn't understand. But I had the feeling it's not a good news for Meira. "Et qui libiter opera facitis et tractibus, quod et noce. Vos conjurae, idec nos conjuo et odit fiat mier alve, familia Durano."

I scoff one last time. Napatingin ako sa paligid. So much damage. Naging abo na lahat ang mga bahay na katatayo lang namin pagkatapos umatake ang Holial Pack noong isang araw. Nawala na ang apoy sa bonfire. Blood are staining the ground.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Rory helped the wounded. Si Lola, kasama ang iba pang Alphas galing sa ibang pack ay nag-uusap nang masinsinan. Lupus was helping the crescent kids to stay them calm.

My ears moved when I heard someone speak. "I'm sorry, Alpha." Napalingon-lingon ako sa paligid para hanapin ang boses ni Cedric. "You are a great leader as your mother. You are your parents," he said that made my tears fell upon my eyes.

"I see a bright future ahead of our people as long as you are in their side. May you find happiness." Napasinghap ako nang marinig ko ang mabibigat niyang paghinga. "Don't worry, I know the truth behind my father's death. I conspire with Meira purposely to stopped her plans alone, but I failed."

Mas lalong bumuhos ang luha ko sa huling narinig ko sa kaniya. "Always failed." My lips tremble when I heard him sobs. "I am nothing but a shameful, desperate, and arrogant werewolf. I don't deserve the life that has given to me."

"Cedric!" Sigaw ko sa pangalan niya habang humahagulgol ng iyak. Dahilan para mapatingin sa akin ang lahat. Rory then appeared in front of me. I ignored him, continued looking for Cedric. But I noticed he continued following me. "Cedric, please! You are not a failure! We are your home! The Crescents will forever your fortress!"

When everyone heard what I said, everyone helped me to look for him. Kahit na si Lola. Kitang-kita ko sa mukha niya ang pag-aalala.

"May Rory Del Grosso give you happiness you deserve." Narinig ko na naman ang boses niya sa aking tenga. "Hey, Del Grosso," pagtawag niya kay Rory. And I am pretty sure, Rory heard him too.

"I'll fucking haunt you with my soul if I ever heard you hurt my Alpha," he warned. Habang ako naman ay napaluhod. Humahagulgol ako ng iyak. I don't personally know Cedric, but I felt his pain starting to surface. I can still save him from the pain. "Farewell, luv," he finally bid his goodbye and everything went silent after the voice of losing his breath.

I covered my face with my two palm and cried like a baby. Rory was quick to give me a hug. After everything that happened tonight, it hurts to lose another Crescent. Naramdaman ko naman ang mga presensya ng ibang nakatayo malapit sa akin.

"Kai," rinig kong pagtawag sa akin ni Hecate sa mababang tono.

Kaagad akong tumayo sa pagkakaluhod at tumalikod sa kanilang lahat nang walang binibitawang salita. Diretso lang ang lakad ko. My swollen eyes, on the other hand, went straight to the ground. There's so much going on, on my head right now. I have to stay away from the crowd and somehow relax myself from everything that happened today.

"Let him be, Del Grosso," I heard Lupus said to Rory. "He needs space."

Kaagad kong pinagpasalamat 'yon. Pumunta ako sa likuran ng Alpha's Lair. Umupo ako sa malaking boulder na nabalutan na ng lumot. Ibig sabihin, malapit-lapit lang ang ilog. Well, this is actually my favorite spot to unwind things.

A sigh of relief when a cold breeze of dawn brushed against my skin. The sound of the water stream echoed in my ears. It's odd when the leaves aren't rustling. Marahil ay dahil madaling-araw pa. There's not enough wind to blow them.

"Ma, Pa," pagtawag ko sa kanilang dalawa. My eyes grew wider when a familiar cold embraced me. They're here. My tears once again fell upon my eyes. "It seems like wherever I go, death follows." I said under my heavy heart. "Do I deserve to be around with people who are willing to put their life on the line just to protect me?" tanong ko sa hangin.

A heavy sigh escaped from my lips. "Tapos na ang lahat. We finally end Hergest's evil plan. But there's something missing." Huminto ako sa pagsasalita nang unti-unting bumiyak ang boses ko. Nagbabadya na naman ang panibagong luha ko sa mata.

"S-sana nandito k-kayo para sagutin ang mga k-katanungan ko," bulong ko na lamang at hinayaang lamunin ang aking sarili sa lungkot. "Para yakapin ako't umiyak sa mga bisig niyo."

Namayani ang katahimikan. The sound of nature prevails. Tinitigan ko na lamang ang kalangitan. How calming to see the moon came back to its original color. There are still some stars gleaming across the sky. But the yellow rays from afar lingers from heaven.

"May you find your happiness, Caelestis Reyan Gehenna." I was crucified from where I was sitting when wind seemed to whisper to my ears.

It's as if Nature just wishes me to find peace within myself.
